A day to honor ones father... I must admit that taking an entire day just to celebrate familial bonds sounds too good to be true. Even if it is as you say and it started out as crass commercialism, the simple fact that peoples lives are so peaceful that they can celebrate such things seems to me a blessing beyond compare.

It... makes me wish I had some words for my own father today: but I don't remember him. I don't even know if he cared. That is why I won't say something scolding like "honor and respect your father", I know all too well what an insult it could be to some people. I do not have that right. Instead... let me use this day to tell my children how grateful I am for them.
