I like that idea. And if she wets things, we can box train her in Judas' tent. [Her laugh should indicate that she wouldn't really, but the thought itself is amusing.]

[He gives her a 'be nice' look but he smiles just the same. Jesus isn't going to be staying there anymore anyhow. He never did get around to getting his own tent. He usually just shared with Judas or James. But if Mary had room and none of her girls minded, Jesus wouldn't mind staying with her at all. It even sounded fun! And she likes cat Go figure!]

Box training...we should get some books at the library.

[The more the merrier! JC was always welcomed into her tent no matter what her girls said. The trip to the home isn't terribly long, with talk about the kitten and what they'd do with it taking up the time.]

This is the place? [She opens up the information page again on her phone.] Must be nice living in a decent place like this.

[Her tent was nice, but it must be so much nicer not living like a nomad.]

[Jesus' family had never been rich so their small home in Nazareth had been cramped above the wood shop and store front his dad used to support them. He had been fond of woodworking himself right up until he started this little journey. But he likes the wandering life too. He likes the tents and when they can afford hostels, those too. And various wealthy members of the Occupy cause sometimes put him up too.

He checks the address and nods before knocking, and a moment later, a girl of ten or so answers with a smile. It's her mother that brings out the cat into the front garden when they inquire and immediately, it's obvious how sweet Jesus is on her.]

[The girl looks on as her mother takes the cat out to the garden, unable to pet her herself. Mary squats down to look over JC's interactions with the cat.]

She seems quite sweet. Doesn't call to a name I hope, since he's already picked out one.

[Luckily, cats are clever, already named or not. Unfortunately, Jesus isn't quite recognized and... Well. It's implied he's a bit slow. The woman thinks it's nice that Mary is minding him so carefully.]

We'll take excellent care of her.

[Cats are apparently more clever than the woman thinks JC is. Mary asks about the supplies for the little kitty, and after a bit of bargaining, she gets the toys and food. They'd have to get a new box for her, but at least they didn't have to get too much for a start.]

Yes, thank you for this. It means quite a bit to him. [She flashes a smile and puts the things in her bag.] To the store then.

Store?

[This was where it would get dicey. Judas, as treasurer, would see the expenses immediately.]

Can't we...make one?

[Mary's tempted to insist on buying it just to tick Judas off, but she knows that money is something they can't splurge on. Every piece counted and maybe they could make a box that could fold up easily to take with them.]

...I suppose we could.

A small bin or tub...just clean it out right? Let's check behind some restaurants.

[Living like a pauper was fine by Jesus. And he did like to keep Judas from flipping out. They'd already fought today. Once a week was enough!]

She wouldn't mind if it smells sweet.

[Never before has any creature been held so tenderly by Christ as this silly cat.]

[Down to once a week? Improvements are always good. Mary and Judas rarely fought now, but they rarely spoke, too.]

Of course she wouldn't. [Mary tenderly scratches the cat behind the ears.] So Miryam then?

[Jesus nodded with all smiles and passed the cat to Mary so that he could carry the bulk of the heavier things. He was stronger than she was physically, though by the end if the walk he rather wished he'd brought Thaddeus or Simon along!]

Ill go wash out a bin for her. Meet you back in your tent!

[Well it was getting dark.]

[The cat seems uncertain at first, but Mary is warm enough and soon she's holding a purring little friend in her arms. Once at the camp, she grins at JC and heads to her tent with the cat.

By the time JC meets her in the tent, Mary's got it set up for two (plus one little kitty). She's keeping Miryam occupied with a toy.]

Energetic little thing it seems!

[Mary's tent always smells good. It's cool when it's too warm out and warm when there's a chill in the air. She has her things neat and folded. It's a very calm place, energetic kitten or not.]

She's still little. And exploring everything.

I think Judas likes her though.

[The two Js make up as quickly as they come to quarrel these days at least.]

[She's not even surprised at their spats anymore.]

She's already gotten lost in your sleeping bag once. [She runs a hand over the cat's back as it sniffs into Mary's bag.]

Seems like Judas isn't as scary and tough as he tries to make himself out to be.

Has she?!

[He can't help but laugh as he takes off his boots and plunks them neatly by the flap before clearing his sleeping back of kittens to stretch out on it.]

Thanks, for letting me stay here tonight.

[Mary takes the kitten into her arms while JC settles down onto his bag. She's without her jacket and boots, wearing only the simple white dress that has some dirt stains about it. She lays down, the feathers still in her and lets the kitten go where she wishes.]

You know you're always welcomed in my tent, JC.

[He lays so he can face her. Not all of the Twelve are comfortable having her around but beside the fact that he tends to love everyone, he finds it impossible not to love Mary. Her kindness and calmness have been such an asset to him in ways he knows she will never understand.]

And you're always welcome with us.

[Erecting tent cities in public meeting places and giving lectures and holding meetings might keeping drawing more and more people to their cause, and Jesus appreciates everyone. However... He's still human. He can still have his favourites. And when he looks at Mary, even now in the partial darkness, it's pretty obvious.]

[Mary looks over JC's face and feels like there should be more to him staying in her tent, but there wasn't. She didn't have to do that anymore as they went from town to town to let him speak. The kitten moves over to JC, sniffing his chin before butting her head against him.]

Like the rest of us, she's taken a liking to you.

[It's hard not to like JC, even if he was naive sometimes. He had such hopes for everyone around him, whether they believed in him or not.]

[Jesus had 'will die a virgin' tattooed all over his forehead any way. Mary was safe with him, safe within his camp.]

It's easy for someone to like you. You simply have to know the right way to be kind to them.

[Rolling over, he let the kitten settle on his chest.]

[You wouldn't have that tattoo if Mary gave into her whims. But being in the camp was changing her. Less armor in the form of makeup and jackets. She didn't have to keep herself so hidden being around JC. Mary sits up now, shifting her body until she's in a position to put JC's head in her lap. From there, her fingers gently rub at his temples.]

I suppose everyone has different ways of being kind.

[Oh, Jesus loved this sort of kind! He found himself almost happily purring, as much as a human could purr, and scratched behind Miryam's ears as well. Mary, as far as he was concerned, was a keeper. And not just for being the best at head scratches either! She was soft and kind and lovely and smelled so nice...]

I like this way.

[Coming from anyone else, it would have been far more sexually charged.]

[There came a pause in her ministrations, a rustling in her bag... And then a sweet, yet earthy smell started to fill the tent. Mary's hands started rubbing gently again to put JC's mind at ease.]

I'm glad someone here appreciates some of the skill I have.

[His appreciate came out in a low moan and a shift of his hips, quite unconsciously. His body understood wanting more but Jesus was just shifting his weight more comfortably against her. He was perfectly happy with what they were doing now, lips parting. Yep. That's the sign of one happy man.]
