[Mary takes the kitten into her arms while JC settles down onto his bag. She's without her jacket and boots, wearing only the simple white dress that has some dirt stains about it. She lays down, the feathers still in her and lets the kitten go where she wishes.]

You know you're always welcomed in my tent, JC.

[He lays so he can face her. Not all of the Twelve are comfortable having her around but beside the fact that he tends to love everyone, he finds it impossible not to love Mary. Her kindness and calmness have been such an asset to him in ways he knows she will never understand.]

And you're always welcome with us.

[Erecting tent cities in public meeting places and giving lectures and holding meetings might keeping drawing more and more people to their cause, and Jesus appreciates everyone. However... He's still human. He can still have his favourites. And when he looks at Mary, even now in the partial darkness, it's pretty obvious.]

[Mary looks over JC's face and feels like there should be more to him staying in her tent, but there wasn't. She didn't have to do that anymore as they went from town to town to let him speak. The kitten moves over to JC, sniffing his chin before butting her head against him.]

Like the rest of us, she's taken a liking to you.

[It's hard not to like JC, even if he was naive sometimes. He had such hopes for everyone around him, whether they believed in him or not.]

[Jesus had 'will die a virgin' tattooed all over his forehead any way. Mary was safe with him, safe within his camp.]

It's easy for someone to like you. You simply have to know the right way to be kind to them.

[Rolling over, he let the kitten settle on his chest.]

[You wouldn't have that tattoo if Mary gave into her whims. But being in the camp was changing her. Less armor in the form of makeup and jackets. She didn't have to keep herself so hidden being around JC. Mary sits up now, shifting her body until she's in a position to put JC's head in her lap. From there, her fingers gently rub at his temples.]

I suppose everyone has different ways of being kind.

[Oh, Jesus loved this sort of kind! He found himself almost happily purring, as much as a human could purr, and scratched behind Miryam's ears as well. Mary, as far as he was concerned, was a keeper. And not just for being the best at head scratches either! She was soft and kind and lovely and smelled so nice...]

I like this way.

[Coming from anyone else, it would have been far more sexually charged.]

[There came a pause in her ministrations, a rustling in her bag... And then a sweet, yet earthy smell started to fill the tent. Mary's hands started rubbing gently again to put JC's mind at ease.]

I'm glad someone here appreciates some of the skill I have.

[His appreciate came out in a low moan and a shift of his hips, quite unconsciously. His body understood wanting more but Jesus was just shifting his weight more comfortably against her. He was perfectly happy with what they were doing now, lips parting. Yep. That's the sign of one happy man.]

[She notices the way his body responds to her care, but Mary doesn't act on it. She's found a different purpose now. For all of the care JC tries to do for them, it's time to give some back. It might come a little weird from one of the others, so a woman's touch will have to do for this.

The gentle rubbing moves down to his neck, and just at the junction between that and JC's shoulders.]

Better~?

Hmmm... That's so good...

[How can he help but sing that out in a sign when it was just so wonderful? No one else had ever offered him that and every time Mary touched him... Not to be vulgar, but it was just so good. Almost like heaven.]

Teach me and I'll do it for you.

[Having her service offered back to her isn't something really expected, so there's a pause with her hands... and they continue back to work.]

Don't worry about it. Being allowed to stay is really enough to help me relax.

[It was a wandering home, but a home nonetheless. Someplace she had with others and could mingle without being looked down upon (or not as much since she was gradually moving away from that line of work).]

[Well that made Jesus laugh.]

Mary. Mary everyone-- ooh, right there--!

[Give him a second, okay?]

Everyone is welcome here. You don't owe me anything. This is a kindness and... I am in your debt.

We are even; you do not owe me anything.

[Her fingers work at a knot she can feel in JC's neck, then go back to the gentle rubbing again. Those skilled hands work until the finally ease to a stop and settle against his collar.]

At least you will sleep with ease tonight. [Everything would be alright in his dreams tonight.]

[Mary received one of his best smiles and as she held him from behind, he lifted a hand to hers and then up to her hair.]

We should both get some sleep. Andrew wants us to pack up camp early and head to the next city.

[He sounded just a little tired.]

You have a new little companion to help you lead the way.

[Mary leans forward so that her hair acts much like a curtain for her face. His fingers catch in a small tangle, but she doesn't seem to mind it.]

Yes, sleep does sound nice.

[Sorry JC, no more Mary-lap for your pillow. She moves to where she was earlier - parallel to him only this time she puts her head to the crook of his neck and shoulder.]

If that is what Andrew wants, we need all the sleep we can get.

[Walking was quite tiring.]

[He can't help but laugh and nod. Some of them really could be task masters, but they all were needed, each and every one had a personality and the talent that would carry them through to the end. Even Mary. Maybe Mary more than most. He stretched out on top of the sleeping bag, cat making a low, squeaking yawn at it settled down too. As soon as Mary curled against him, he wrapped an arm around her, played with the feathers in her hair. It was calming.

And neither would notice the kitten sneaking out.]

[A woman against his side and a kitten curled up on his chest. The fingers toying with her hair and feathers just soothes her more until she falls prey to sleep against him. It's by far one of the easiest sleeps she's fallen into in some time. Mary hardly moves throughout the night, even when the kitten sneaks out to go visit a certain other person in the camp.

In fact, Mary is so comfortable that even as the sun peeks over the horizon, she's still dozing against Jesus. No, she doesn't want to get up.]

[When Judas couldn't stand it anymore, he finally went to Mary's tent, fingers clenched at his side in one hand, a furry brat as much as Jesus was in the other arm, he snaps towards the tent entrance.]

JC! Get your furry rodent!

Judas...?

[No, the person against him was still Mary, meaning his friend was outside doing the yelling. He lifted his head, and his voice.]

I don't have a rodent!

[Definitely Mary, though now she startled awake at Judas' yelling outside of her tent. How rude. Sitting up and pushing the sleeping bag tangled around her feet aside, she unzipped the opening to look up at Judas with a very unimpressed face.]

What do you want, shouting at this too-early hour, Judas?

[No, this is why nice things are rare. Leave it to Judas to muck things up.]

[At least she had her clothing on. Judas can't even begin to explain why seeing her makes him so angry right now, but he looks hard at her.]

...Miryam.

[The little black cat in his arms lifts her head and mewls towards Mary. She recognizes this lady!]

[Why wouldn't she have her clothing on? Just what did you expect? Jesus would be a little disturbed and a whole lot more offended than he already was if he knew.]

Miryam!

[Jesus just sits up and holds his hands out because.... Uh. Morning laziness?]

[Look angry all you want - you don't seem to know any other emotions outside of 'hurt' and 'angry'. She doesn't really care as Miryam pops up and meows. Mary reaches over and takes the kitten from Judas - she's better company anyways - to scratch it between the ears.]

Seems we had an escapee last night then, JC.

[Mary's amused, and gently hands over the kitten to their 'leader'.]

[He knows plenty of emotions outside of those - just not at you. He is surprisingly gentle making sure Miryam gets transferred over into Mary's arms before he crosses his arms.]

I woke up with her in my hair.

[That just makes Jesus laugh and he takes the cat from Mary to nuzzle against her dark fur.]

Did you find Judas? Yeah? Was he a more comfortable bed to snuggle?

[Jesus was too cute. And that was a problem!]
