I've remained silent throughout your intimate review of my 'canon' due to a lack of faith in both your ability to convey my thoughts with the eloquence of my vocabulary and the nature of your intentions with me. I had thought it was mutually agreed upon that you would not be able to handle such a grave task and the notion was put aside for some time.
Yet, it would appear you've still a mind to place my person into a game of sorts for your own amusement. The reasons given do little to satisfy my curiosity or to ease the nerves you have given me. It is a both a whim and a great insult to myself and I urge you to cease all attempts before you make fools of us both.

I will make my feelings on the matter clear to you. You will NOT put forth an application of my person for the sake of making a mockery of my inexperience with modern technology and views and I do not appreciate the humor you find in the notorious persona that has been built around my name. I do not wish to be swooned upon and I do not wish to indulge in pleasantries with those I am not already well acquainted with. Particularly not those of an indecent nature, the very thought of it offends me. We both know perfectly well what is implied by that.

I hope that this message is not in vain and that you will heed my warnings in a most urgent manner.

[When the phone is revealed, he's really not sure what to make of it. He looks a little put off by it, perhaps a little dismissive as well as he looks away from it and back to Betty.]

What is its purpose?

Mostly contacting other people and keeping things organized. [She presses a few buttons on it to bring up her work calendar, showing him the small screen.] My thumbs sometimes get tired from typing on it if I don't pace myself, writing emails and texting.

[An eyebrow is going to shoot right up as she shows him the screen. He's never seen anything like it in his entire life and he's not entirely sure he's fond of it either.]

Where did you come across such a contraption?

I saved up my money and bought it...have you really never seen one? Surely you've seen phones like this.

[prejudices]

I've not laid my eyes on any such thing. It is beyond my scope of knowledge, but I've come across many terms and objects in this day that I've not seen or heard of before.

[labcoatgirl]

[He really must be from another time altogether.] Never used even a telephone?

[prejudices]

[He looks at her as if she's crazy before narrowing his eyes.] A what?

[labcoatgirl]

[This was going to be difficult to explain] A telephone. A way of talking to another person over great distances.

I've not heard of such a thing. [He looks genuinely bewildered.]

Really? [Now curious, she asks further] Where are you from? Or should I ask what year?

England. And it is the turn of the 19th century. [He looks at her as if she should know all of this.]

[labcoatgirl]

[surprised] Oh. Wow. I guess you wouldn't have heard of phones at all. It was still in development in the late 19th century.

[prejudices]

No, I've not heard of any such thing. [He resists sighing in frustration. He's been so confused today.] You are from a different time, I take it?
