Thoughts on Season 3 in general and the premiere (Possible spoilers in comments)

Yes, you're disappointed that Sombra didn't get as much screen time as you wanted, but maybe we can try not thinking about that too much? The test was difficult enough already and I'd rather not think about him making an appearance later in the season. You already read the synopses for the first few episodes, so just wait it out until they air.

I know this was just the start of things yet to come, but do you really have to keep comparing it to your bullet hell and danmaku shooters? You play too many video games, mun. Comparing Sombra to a "stage 1 boss," while accurate, doesn't mean he's any less dangerous. He still has powerful magic and-

...no, I don't know who Rumia is, mun. Besides, what makes you think she and Sombra have anything more in common than power over darkness and getting defeated easily, regardless of having such a powerful ability?

How's your horn? Sombra somehow used those crystals to suppress your magic, didn't he?

Yeah, it felt really weird. And itchy. I mean, horns don't usually itch, but those crystals were somehow itchy.

But, uh, yeah. It's better now; good as new, even.

I'm guessing that's because they were made with dark magic. It's powerful, but from what my mun tells me, they're often paired with side effects.

But I'm glad that you're alright; it was hard on all of us.

Mine mun tells me that this "Rumia" is seen by his kind as a simple, almost foalish creature who has its true evil sealed away through a charm.

I believe he is trying to warn you that the test will never fully be over, Twilight Sparkle, much like the test presented by Discord and the Changelings. They will always be present, you must be ever vigilant.

You're right, princess. No matter what happens, I have to look out for any threats that present themselves to Equestria. There are rumors about Discord and the changelings making a return, but if that happens, my friends and I will be ready for them.

From what I understand, it's a popular theme in their world, especially when paired with light and used to represent conflict, whether literally or metaphorically. It can also be used to represent unity, where two forces that are complete opposites come together for the same cause and bring peace.

It's a cultural thing, really.

Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. It's very hard to tell with muns, especially during their "character development paths" they like to travel in these games.

This is starting to sound like a few Professor's I've worked with in the past. Very big picture types. They tend not to think about the little details that get in the way of what they want.

I see. Does she often pose a threat in Gensokyo? Or rather, if she's not as threatening, does she prove to be a nuisance time and again?

Oh, Rumia's just a member of that annoying ice fairy's band of idiots. For all her talk about eating humans, I don't think she's ever caught one!

I wish I could say the same about King Sombra. I can't say for sure if he's been defeated for good, so that's something I have to prepare for.
