I... must insist for a moment of your time, Mundane.
[Fine, fine... Here's a blond young man, seemingly in his early 20s, seemingly armored...]
I understand my role in any team I wish to be a part of. But that does not mean I can be referred to as a "whipping boy." Nor is it "meat shield." It is, in fact, much worse than the former in my honest opinion.
I also must express my uneasiness for Thancred. I believe I speak for the adventurers he... stalks, for lack of better word. For the time being, I am quite uncertain whether or not I shall be a part of their Scions of Seventh Dawn.
Lastly... As much as Ul'Dah is my home, I've also grown to enjoy my time in Limsa Lominsa.

Elarian can't help but be both ecstatic and somewhat wary at the same time. After meeting Mir, the youth isn't too sure he should greet this newcomer. ]
Oh?
[ He blinks his eyes curiously before bursting out laughing. ]
Do not judge the Scions of the Seventh Dawn because of that spoony bard alone.
[ Elarian smiles.]
You are in good company!
no subject
I'll... keep that in mind.
no subject
You hail from Ul'Dah, yes? Then I suppose it's only natural to hold such healthy suspcisions. I know I had some of my own when I first met the Scions.
[ His smile fades a tinge. ]
Hrm? I cannot say I remember your name. You must be a new recruit.
no subject
...For lack of better word, I suppose.
no subject
[ The boy gave a slight nod. ]
We'll have to fix that! The Scions need all the help we can muster to save our realm of Eorzea.
[ Though, just how will they accomplish this being trapped here? That's the untold question. ]
Tell me, what is your name?
no subject
[Garrett isn't sure if he wants the responsibility but in the end, the good of the world will more than likely win...]
My name is Garrett Slater. Doubtful that you've heard of the name.
no subject
Garrett, eh? I cannot say I've ever heard of you until now, but it's a pleasure to make---oh!
[ Elarian cuts off in mid sentence once he noticed something 'familiar' about Garrett. ]
...Your eyes.
[ A long pause. ]
Never thought I would see the day to meet someone as peculiar as me.
no subject
[Right, his eyes... He isn't very thrilled about them, unfortunately. It would be about this time when Garrett would notice the others' eyes as well.]
Neither have I, to be honest. It is... peculiar indeed.
no subject
If this fellow is to become a proper Scion of the Seventh Dawn, he'll need someone to guide him. ]
Elarian Faelivrin.
[ He finally announced his name at last. ]
I suppose it will be up to me to act as your honorary companion for the tasks that lie ahead.
no subject
It... would be appreciated, if I am to be a part of the Scions. I'm sure there will be difficult tasks ahead.
no subject
Also, Eros, my small friend, knows many spells.

How true. I don't know many adventurers who can last long without a proficient healer.
Even the Twin Adders are always in need of my aid.
no subject
I will admit it can be quite... disconcerting to be headhunted, but I can vouch for the man, and the rest of the Archons. He has saved my life repeatedly so repeatedly in fact, it is turning quite embarrassing..., and the Archons truly are working for the good of Eorzea and all of her peoples.
....Though...
[And Mir does look quite thoughtful at this. After all, the Ul'dah he knew five years ago was very different than what it is now. Now it's remarkably more tolerant.]
A short while ago, those with our gifts were unwelcome in Ul'dah, for fear our presence would cause the Empire to attack. The Flame General's presence has changed things for us considerably. I am quite certain that the Immortal Flames would welcome you, should you wish not to align yourself with us.
no subject
For now, I am undecided...
[Though... knowing him, he might be a part of the Scions, anyway.]
no subject
Lady Minfillia is no doubt the most qualified to speak of it, next to the Archons. They are all... very versed in it's intricacies. I have found though, that it is neither gift, or curse. The Echo is a tool, one which is as much a part of us as any. Hydaelyn charged each of us with a task... one She means to ensure we can complete with it guiding, and protecting us.
...However, there are those which would do us harm based on what we are - the hooded mages. Ascians. I would suggest that you be very careful, as they have no care as to whether you intend to heed Hydaelyn's request of you or not. They are out to destroy us.
no subject
Had it not been for Thancred, I may not be alive today.
no subject
Instead, he merely reaches into his coat and pulls his crystal of light out. Showing absolutely anyone else it is a no. Of course not. But he suspects, given all Garrett's been through, that he holds one too.]
...You were fortunate. I know that the Archons intend to protect us as we complete our tasks. Unfortunately, the state of our world depends on us, so we must do all that we can. I do not know who you will ally yourself to; though if you love Eorzea and all of it's people, you will do all you can no matter where you end up.
[And he puts it away, carefully.]
no subject
I must, yes?
no subject
[...]
Oh, I apologize. I was rude enough to not ask your name.
no subject
[Garrett slowly shakes his head.]
No, no worries. My name is Garrett Slater. And yours?
no subject
My name is Miir'a Ain. Though most tend to call me Mir. I do not mind either name.
no subject
Ah, I do believe you have quite the wrong assumption! Be it not any wish of mine to violate any sense of privacy you so clearly hold in such high regard; you do have quite the tendency to be stuck right in the middle of - and more often than not engaging - aetheric disturbances!
no subject
Yes well... You've mentioned watching me ever since I've left Ul'Dah only to deliver missives for the Elder Seedseer and the Chielf Admiral. Not... so much engaging there, and not much for aetheric disturbances.
[He knows you're a good guy, Thancred. If a tad odd...]
no subject
[There's so much going on you're not aware of, Garret! ...But fine. There's a slightly thoughtful expression as Thancred considers the pros and cons of coming out with it, before deciding to.]
Perchance, were you not a little curious as to the other advocate for your newfound airship pass? The Flame General saw potential in you, as do I and my associates. The long and short of it is that adventurers with your strength - much less your ability are few and far between.
...Something is coming, Garrett. Something which threatens Eorzea, nay - the world - and we do not mean to allow that to come to pass. Men such as you are instrumental in overcoming this threat. Your choice is your own, of course - yet I do not believe even for an instant we should be able to face what is to come without you and others alike you.
no subject
[Garrett couldn't really disagree with what Thancred just said... as Raubahn said something similar.]
If that is so, then I've no choice but to fight. Just as I am to fight a Primal in the coming days...
no subject
[Have a very warm smile.]
Ah, we should not merely throw you at the lord of the inferno alike any of the terms you so haphazardly pronounced yourself! I shall accompany you. Though it shall not alleviate any of your suspicions of my intent, I pray you realize it is naught but honorable before I am to trust you with my life.
[There's a small laugh.]
...And there is the rescue of those unfortunates captured to consider. They are indeed our priority.
no subject
[Garrett still has reservations about you, so he sort of understands.]
I'm told defeating the Amalj'aa is no easy feat... and I am to get through to them to get to Ifrit.
