So you're trying again and you've got somewhere in mind to send me. I can't say that I'm too pleased about this development. There are people I need to get back to on Enterprise or else who knows what sort of trouble may occur in my absence.
And I'm well aware of the point in which you're pulling me from. I doubt there's any time that's worse for me than being locked in the brig for treason by the captain.
...That is not an invitation to see if you can find something worse.

[Malcolm's kind of glad Trip wasn't around for the whole thing. It would have been even worse to follow Harris' orders if it meant lying to his best friend as well as his captain.]

[gives into his urge and hugs Malcolm]

The timing wasn't your fault. Now if you had done this on purpose, I might actually be upset with you.

I can't believe I'd leave Enterprise on purpose. Can't believe I even left to help Columbia

He almost says "You had your reasons" but he catches himself in time.]
I don't see why you wouldn't. If there's anyone who could get Columbia's launch back on schedule, it would be you.

Rolls his eyes.]
Of course it ain't on schedule. I wonder what the Vulcans did t' delay it.

Take advantage of the situation with the Xindi, I imagine.
[Which is horrible to say so bluntly to Trip of all people and he immediately regrets it.]
no subject
He flinches, unable to help himself, and his answer is soft and distracted]
Yeah. Somethin' like that sounds right.
no subject
And now he feels kind of awful for mentioning that.]
I didn't mean to say it quite like that. Or bring it up at all.
no subject
He just waves it off and turns away slightly to compose himself]
It's alright. You think I'd be over it by now.
[Except now he has nightmares of the Xindi attacking the island too]
no subject
I don't think that.
[He remembers how Trip was. Malcolm is not surprised the Xindi still haunt him.]
no subject
Yeah well. We're home now, relatively speaking. What good am I when one mention of the Xindi throw me off?
[After months of waking nightmares and then the Xindi actually showing up...yeah, lots of new nightmares. Even if that's when he fell for Phoebe.]
