You keep telling me not to worry about Bofur's desire to have a 'serious discussion' with me later, but I am, quite frankly, worried!

Maybe not as worried as I am about what I did to Thorin's hair while I was drunk...

This festival was a terrible, a really very-- Just a terrible idea to take me to!

Thorin knows-- Oh!

[Thorin knows. Bilbo's brow furrows.]

Is he angry with me again?

[Bofur can't help but chuckle.] If he were angry over it, he'd be angry with me, lad, not you.

[Someday in the far future, maybe he'll understand more how Bilbo's mind works.]

[Who could ever be angry at you, Bofur!?]

Well. He's not angry then. Good.

Do y' think he 'as a reason t' be? [Bofur frowns a little, nervous.]

I'm never too sure just what might set him off.

[Back to the splinter removal. He's very gentle about it.]

I don't like the fighting.

[Ow, that one hurt! Bofur lets out a soft hiss of pain.]

Nor do I, lad. Nor do I.

[Bilbo immediately presses down on the wound to put pressure on it and lessen the pain. He looks at Bofur so very sorrowfully.]

That was a big one! Are you all right?

[He smiles at that. That splinter was large enough to make him bleed a little bit, but Bofur's hands are tough and calloused, and once the thing is removed, it hardly bothers him.] Jus' fine. [He laughs.]

[Oh but there's blood! Bilbo fusses. He's going to keep on fussing. He seems to really love bandaging you! ]

Bilbo, lad. I'm alright. [Should he be concerned about Bilbo's excessive fussing?]

[Probably not. This is just the one thing he can actually control in a life that is understandably uncontrollable. And he's never actually had someone to care for. Bofur, let him fuss!]

You certainly will be, but no thanks to these splinters!

[Alright then. He watches Bilbo bandage him up with a small smile, amused but touched by the hobbit's concern.]
