You keep telling me not to worry about Bofur's desire to have a 'serious discussion' with me later, but I am, quite frankly, worried!

Maybe not as worried as I am about what I did to Thorin's hair while I was drunk...

I'm not exactly trying to change my whole culture, Thorin, and as your nephew has pointed out, I am hardly dwarflike. I just want something to feel like I belong.

Well then, perhaps we should exchange things from our cultures. What do you think us dwarves could take from the gentle folk of the Shire?

Better hand washing habits.

Kili's not done his in a week. I had to scrub Bofur's hands for him after a fortnight!

Someone needs to make sure you lot are cleaning up properly and eating well!

I'm surprised you don't make us wash our hands and behind our ears before and after each meal. [He's teasing you now, Bilbo. Though his tone might not indicate it.]

It's a wonder you aren't sick all the time!

We're used to our habits, changing them could make us ill. [Dwarves who are perfectly squeaky clean would probably be sick all the time. Honestly, Bilbo.]

The mansion will be better in that respect at least, there are proper baths in them and plumbing. [Simple plumbing of course, but plumbing all the same. The dwarves will probably ruin it, slowly but surely.]

My rooms are going to be off limits to dwarves.
