And here I thought your narcissism would accomplish that long before I did. [Smiling a little softer at this, he dared to reach out and squeeze his shoulder.]
Yes.. as I said... you'd be fine. [Then he stopped when Will brought the conversation back to Alec. That wasn't what he'd aimed for.] He tried to bargain with Camille to take my immortality away. [The words were softer at that before he looked away.]
I knew he'd not go through with it... but Camille. Why her? I would have done it for him... I wanted to. But he couldn't trust me enough... he had to get her involved because nothing I said mattered.
[The look on Will's face shifts rapidly between confusion, pain, and then sadness.]
I don't know how I'd have handled that. [The nephilim manages to be gentle as he pats the back of Magnus' hand.] He probably did it though... because he loves you, right? In his own way.
[Feline eyes lingered on Will's hand before he finally closed them. Lifting the other hand, he rubbed at the oculars slowly as if he was getting a headache.]
I made a mistake... I told him I couldn't forgive him for that...
So why not tell him it was a mistake? You think he wouldn't forgive you? [Will has a moment when he wonders at the fact that he's sitting here, trying to give relationship advice to a Warlock who happens to be dating (or formerly dating) one of his sister's distant grandsons. It's rather surreal, to say the least.]
[It seemed equally surreal to imagine Will telling him not to give up on Alec. At least that meant at least someone in Alec's family approved of him.]
I'll make a deal with you... you ask Tessa to go with the both of you... and I'll man up and tell him it was a mistake or at least work through our issues. Deal?
[A younger William Herondale would have scoffed at this idea and probably made a nasty remark about how he doesn't make deals with downworlders but-- that's in the past. After a few moments of thought, Will extends his hand as though to shake on the deal.]
I'll tell her what's going on. I'll explain our situation and then... the rest will be up to her.
It seems my Alec caught you on another thread... XD
[Tipping his head, he smiled at that. How Will always seemed to treat him like an equal... it was never lost on him. It reminded him he wasn't just a warlock or another scummy downworlder. Which is why he easily slid his hand into Will's to shake it firmly.]
I'm going to be fine. [Will even managed a smile as he gave Magnus' hand a strong squeeze.]
In the end things will work out. As my Jem says, he believes that life is on a wheel, and that everything will work out as it's meant to regardless of our own mortal influence. Well. my mortal influence.
[The last sentence is dripping with Will's signature snark, a bit of a glint of hope kindled in his eyes.]
The Tessa below is a friend of mine as well. <3 I have a Will name I've never used.
I know you will be. [Magnus had faith in that before he smirked just a little.]
I can always count on you for commentary. [Even if immortality and mortality are the last things he wants to think about.] You know... you should ask Jem and Tessa about a three-way love.
[Oh.. but he does have a glint in feline eyes as he knows Tessa would likely agree since she loves them both. And he knew full well that the two hunters loved each other.]
She's lovely. Will is near and dear to my heart for a lot of reasons. there can always be more Will.
[Will is a bit startled by this, as though the concept is completely foreign. He wouldn't deny that this solution to him, is in fact the best-- but isn't it completely improper? Part of him could almost imagine Tessa getting angry, or Jem getting hurt over the idea. But what if they didn't? What if it was as simple as the fact that they love each other and love each other equally? Again. He stammers a bit, trying to find his words.]
I've. Never really heard that. Of that. As. Can you even just. Proposition in that manner?
[There is a small amount of amusement dancing in his eyes as he watches Will consider the idea. It was like a near accident. You see it coming in horror... then the dawning relief and realization it didn't happen. Obviously, Will didn't mind the idea in the end.]
Well, one learns a lot in 800 years. Where I can't say I've had that sort of balanced love... you three share it in equal parts easily. As for propositioning it... I would do so carefully.
[Lightly patting Will's shoulder he grinned.]
I really think... at least in Tessa's case... the result will be good. I don't know Jem well enough.
Thank you so very much. Your Magnus makes me smile.
[Again, Will stops to think this over. There's no reason why it shouldn't work out, to be honest-- save for the fact that society was what speaks out against it. And since when had William Herondale been one to give into that?]
I suppose the worse that could happen would be him slugging me in the jaw again.
I'm sure there are worse things than a bruised jaw. But I also know he'd forgive most anything of you.
[That he did notice. No matter how upset Jem got. He tended to always forgive Will. It made him almost sad for a moment that he and Alec couldn't be that simple.]
I've already made a promise, and so I'm going to do my best to make sure that everyone can be happy in the end. Though that seems a little outlandish don't you think? Extravagant and magnificent... Shadowhunters don't get fairy tale endings. Not that this would even be your typical fairy tale ending.
Thank you... For watching over her. [He looks away, the weight of his own mortality weighing rather heavily upon him. Then he meets Magnus' eyes, that last bit confusing him while simultaneously feeling like a spike of ice driven right to his gut.]
I always will. [He stopped when he realized what he said. He'd not meant to say so much. It wasn't like he asked Will what exact time period he was from.]
Then you don't know yet... I shouldn't have said anything.
[It felt like then all over again. The pleading need in Will Herondale tha the couldn't say no to. And after a moment, he placed his hand over Will's only a moment.]
You came to me for help. We found the demon... I killed it after he revealed he tricked you into believing he cursed you...
[It was like a punch in the gut. Will drops his hand and stumbles back, his hand moving up to cover his mouth as he absorbs the information. Years. So many years of his life wasted. Gone. A lie.]
[He started to reach for the hunter only to stop. His hand hung there suspended in air before it slowly fell to his side. Turning his head away, he ran those fingers through his hair messing up the spiked hair.]
Yes. It was. Demons lie anyway they can. And your sister died from a nick he landed with his poisonous tail... not because of a curse. I am sorry, Will.
[This is a lot to take in in a short amount of time. Will is visibly reeling, and he the look in his eyes as he meets Magnus' golden ones is pure vulnerability. Part of him wants to run-- though he doesn't know where he'd go.]
William... [This time he did take a step closer and did something he should have down even back then. He pulled Will closer and hugged him. One arm wrapped about his shoulders slowly, the other hand resting on the back of Will's head.]
You'll have to forgive me someday... but you can blame this moment of weakness on me and say you were simply accommodating my frivolous and spontaneous nature. However... I can only tell you to live. What other answer is there?
[At first, Magnus' touch makes Will tense uncertainly-- he is rather like a frightened animal, unsure as to what the future or anything, for that matter, holds for him. However the touch is warm and calming, and he slowly relaxes, slumping against the warlock as though he can't quite support himself at the moment. He rests his head against the other's shoulder, and rather than speaking or trying to articulate anything, Will lets out a muffled, keening sound of grief and surprise and anger-- everything mixed together in that moment.]
[Supporting the Nephilim, he simply kept them both standing. Lightly threading his fingers through the waving curls of ebony, he let out a soft sigh. He'd once described Will as something broken that you put back together. But he knew he was more than that and much stronger.]

Good. And I'll talk to Alec. Will you be okay?
I have indeed been caught!

[He smiles back lightly.] You're not cursed. You can do anything you set your mind to. I know it.

I'm sorry.. had company all weekend XD
Yes. It was. Demons lie anyway they can. And your sister died from a nick he landed with his poisonous tail... not because of a curse. I am sorry, Will.
It's fine, I did too actually! <3
What...I. What do I do now...?
