Well gosh. I appreciate y'giving me a voice here young lady. Guess telling yourself not to pick up any more muses isn't going to be enough to get yourself to slow down.

Life is fast paced enough as it is. Heh...Trust me on that. When you're workin' the same job day in and day out, time seems to go faster than a car onna' racetrack. I wouldn't have it any other way, personally, but ahh...'spose it's not for everyone.

Can't be stayin' here too long though you know. I'll have a lot of disappointed youngsters on my hands if I'm not around to open up the arcade.

[OOC: Just a heads up, Mr. Litwak's backstory here is inspired by this fic! It's a good read, I highly recommend it <3]

[Litwak grins back, adjusting his glasses.]

You'll have to keep our cabinet in good shape, though, there's only so much we can do on the inside. We work together, you take care of the outside, and we'll keep things working on the inside.

Don't you worry about that, I will. I'll have your cabinet maintained once a month if I have to to make sure everything stays in working order!

Thanks! And can you keep an eye on the kids? Sometimes they're rough with the buttons or shake or kick the cabinet if things go badly. Most of them are well behaved, but a few of them, well, seems like they've got a temper as big as mine.

Oh yes, I'm well aware of that. I'll do my best to make sure they cool it. Most of the time though, other kids who actually respect the cabinets a bit more can get them to knock it off.

Those are my favorite types of gamers, the ones that really do love the games, even if we serve them up a sound beating. The others, well, they have...passion, but they don't always get it.

[Litwak gives a snicker at that.]

Passion's one word for it I suppose. Passion doesn't need to constitute in breaking all my games though. But hey, they're kids. Not much you can do.

[Ralph chuckles.]

I gotta agree with you there, but, uh...if it wasn't for my passion, then nothing'd get wrecked and there wouldn't be much of a game to play. But, wrecking needs to stay in the games, not outside of them.

Exactly! At least in the games, things go back to normal when the game starts over.

Right! And you don't have a magic hammer to fix things out there.

Nope. If we did, things definitely would be a lot easier...

Seems like a lot of things are different for you guys than it is for us. I don't know much about you and the gamers, to be honest.

Things are plenty different, that's for sure. Mostly though, it's the same.

We're both people, got jobs, work nine to five for a livin'....and we've got families right? ...Or I guess you guys have somethin' like that, anyway.

[The arcade owner sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.]

I suppose the....biggest difference is that real-life doesn't have a reset button.

[Ralph thinks this over.]

I guess you're right. You could say that Felix and all the Nicelanders and Vanellope, oh, and Q*bert and his friends, too, are my family. Sure, we've got our problems sometimes, but we all depend on each other. The game wouldn't be the same without any of them!

So, what do you without a reset button? Like...if there's a huge mess or something?

Well...we gotta fix it ourselves. That's how things work out here. Something breaks, we have to fix it. ...and sometimes things can't be fixed, so we just make do the best we can.

[Ralph thinks this over silently before speaking.]

So...if you can't fix something, it's like when a game gets unplugged, right? It just...goes away forever?

..Well....depends on what you're talking about. Like if a building say...catches on fire, and it can't be put out- ...the building is broken, and there's no way to fix it. But it doesn't go away. Not unless it's demolished, and rebuilt.

It's the same way with most things in the world.

[Ralph nods and nervously plays with his hands.]

So, uh, what happens if the arcade gets destroyed? Do buildings get wrecked often?

...Not too often, no. Buildings get old sometimes and fall apart on their own, but only after a long, long time.

I would....do my best to get the cabinets out before something happened to the building. But...It's not something I like to think about, because I can't honestly say what I would do if the arcade..... caught fire.

[He just...doesn't think he'd be able to save them all.]

Well, that's good, hopefully the arcade won't get too old...

[Ralph frowns at this.]

...But won't the fire hurt you? I mean, those consoles look pretty heavy and some of them are bigger than you!

Well sure, fire does hurt. ...but I mean, that wouldn't stop me from doing what I could to help. I'd have to get some others to help me, the fire department....it would take a lot of work, but I think it could be done.

[Ralph smiles slightly.]
