Fandom OC, canon is the Starz TV-series Camelot
Why? Why must it be this way?
You tell me that it is because "that's the way the story goes", but the story was never told. You don't know what would have happened and how, why must you choose nothing but cruel paths for all of us to walk upon?
Why would you make me an instrument of hate if you have the power to change things?
I don't care what the fates of those who share my name are, you could tell a different story.
But you won't, will you? No, you want me to follow the ghosts of those who came before me into whatever darkness you conceive to be my inescapable end.
Grant me this at least, then: That it makes my mother smile.

I'm sorry I could not resist B(
No need to resist :|

I'm really glad someone wanted to play with him <3
I love Mordreds in all shapes and sizes! <3
This one is angst-shaped xD
All Mordreds are angst-shaped :C
And how do you serve this?

The answer... It is a surprise. She has thought herself cold-blooded, Mordred's very existence proved that point, but he was her son. Has she raised him only to be slaughtered?]
Quit wallowing in tragedies, Mordred. The story I am telling hardly ends with your death.
[The laughter of the dead rings in her ears. She is very aware of how little power she has when it comes to telling any stories, and further, she isn't capable of changing her ways.
Even if it would mean saving his life.]

It ends with you on the throne.
[ And with many sacrifices made to get her there. If he could be granted one wish it would be for it to make her happy, since she seems to be entirely beyond the point of being able to let go of this ambition. ]

[It is wishful thinking. At the worst, Mordred's origin would need to be revealed, and not a single advisor of the king would let him live after that.
Ultimately, she would sooner or later have to sacrifice him - as it was planned. She never thought the idea would nearly make her cry.]

[ More so because she's a woman, and they live in a hypocritical world. ]
One day, you will have a true heir.
[ A real son or daughter. He will do his part to make it happen. He will bleed for his unborn brothers and sisters. ]

[She feels almost childish, but she has not forgotten how ugly her bethrotal to Lot had ended, and she has little interest in sharing her title.
But he is right, and she knows it.]
I will deal with this once the time has come.

[ She could even adopt him, depending on how much of the truth they ended up revealing.
But again, that would require him surviving the game to win the throne, and as Arthur's power keeps growing that grows ever less likely. ]

It almost sounds as if they want you to die.

The other wants me to bring a king to ruin.
[ Which... is almost the same thing, but he will cling to that slight difference in nuance. ]

[Who would have thought he'd get to hear something that surprises him!]
The latter would be your mother?

[ And he's kind of feeling like an idiot right now because he shouldn't have said that, but it doesn't count here anyway.
... right? ]

[Seriously, that needs to be pointed out. Impossibilities, anyone.]

[ Let's just say Morgan has managed to stay impressively in shape for her age. Let's not go into how. Nobody wants to know. ]

[She shrugs.]
Kinda strange seeing you grown up, I haven't made it that far memory-wise.
[Merlin knows. Merlin totally knows. And sooner or later, this version of Morgan will find out and probably not leave the couch for a week.]
