These priorities and fears of yours...strange, to say the least. I hope you're not looking for me to rearrange mine to match, since that would lead to disappointment for us both. If I am to haunt the halls of this bizarre, new cafe, indefinitely, I would like to know that we share a better understanding than that.
...Were my friends brought to this place, as well, I suppose I would hear one, among them, laugh and call me a fool to hear it said that this...is not what I envisioned. Please don't think I give any credit to Marius's misguided melodrama, but perhaps there is a part of me that also wishes it could have ended...differently.

And I wouldn't worry too much about your mun trying to reorder your priorities, they always think they can and it never really works.

Fortunately, I think she knows better than to try. I believe she's aware her anxieties and needs are her own, in this case.

That's a good thing, though, it's always easier when they can differentiate their ... issues, from ours.

And recognize which "issues", as you put it, we might have in common.

Exactly. There's something of us in them, or them in us, even the ones who don't seem like a match at all. Because if there weren't some connection, no matter how narrow, it wouldn't work.

[Smiles.] I wouldn't have come, when she called, had there not been.

Of which girl do you speak, monsieur? There are none I can think of granting such credit to.

I should be glad to be called melodramatic, if theatrics call for second chances. You are most welcome here.

[A quiet smile, in return.] I'm not familiar with this "here", but I'm glad to find you well, in it, Marius.

However, 'here' might be thought of as a less insidious version of limbo. No doubt, you will find yourself elsewhere soon enough.
With hope, you will be just as well there as you find me here.
