These priorities and fears of yours...strange, to say the least. I hope you're not looking for me to rearrange mine to match, since that would lead to disappointment for us both. If I am to haunt the halls of this bizarre, new cafe, indefinitely, I would like to know that we share a better understanding than that.

...Were my friends brought to this place, as well, I suppose I would hear one, among them, laugh and call me a fool to hear it said that this...is not what I envisioned. Please don't think I give any credit to Marius's misguided melodrama, but perhaps there is a part of me that also wishes it could have ended...differently.

I hope you find yours, friends, that is.

And I wouldn't worry too much about your mun trying to reorder your priorities, they always think they can and it never really works.

The ways of muns are odd and varied, but you've got a good chance of finding them again, I think.

That's a good thing, though, it's always easier when they can differentiate their ... issues, from ours.

As someone who's gone almost an eternity without friends, I can say for sure that it is quiet.

Exactly. There's something of us in them, or them in us, even the ones who don't seem like a match at all. Because if there weren't some connection, no matter how narrow, it wouldn't work.

...I'll take your word for it man. I caught like one word in three so. What do you do with words like that? You a writer?

I beg to differ.

[The barest cringe at that turn of phrase] Not ... not really, but it's getting better.

... I like that way of looking at it. Being called.

There's a difference between writing and public speaking. Writers write, public speakers and writers are either actors or politicians. You look like you could be an actor. You don't smell like somethin' that crawled outta a sewer if you'll pardon the expression.

[Despite the eventual outcome of what happened he can't resist sticking it to the boy.] Executed by your friend, the man who seemed to sympathize?

In some ways, yes. But in others... not really. The past is past and can't be changed. But I prefer to hope for the future than to despair for the past.

They really are.
