I must say, the fact that you are tossing over two others whom you never let out of their boxes at the same time you are picking me up does not bode well for this relationship.
I don't do well in boxes.

[His optimism was somewhat shattered when the people of Paris abandoned them, slamming their doors in the faces of his compatriots as the soldiers shot them down.]

[This Enjolras at least has the depth of knowledge that spans beyond his life, as he has long since learned that the people did indeed rise up in the beginning of the barricades, but they were unfortunately gunned down almost immediately. Thus, the people feared too much to come out and join those on the barricade again. Still, it gives him hope that they tried, that the students of the University were willing to tend to their cause, and that their failed rebellion became a turning point for the revolution.
But then again, he is Enjolras. He takes comfort in knowing that people would continue to rise, even though he always knew that they would. And it saddens him so to see another incarnation of himself seemingly adrift in some sort of somber moment, enough so that he would abandon at least one of his convictions.]
Is there anything I can say that might offer you a modicum of hope?

[He has abandoned no convictions, and would take great offense to such being so much as suggested. To share a drink with a companion hardly made him a drunkard.]
Unlikely, and I'd rather you didn't either way. My life is my own, and I prefer to keep it that way.

Good luck with any future endeavors. I hope you find your amis.
