You must live in a really sad place. I mean, come on! No snow in winter? No Toothfairy stories? No Sandman tales? What kind of hole could you possible be- ...no Easter Bunny either?

...what? [Jack stares at Cheren. Are you kidding him? You gotta be kidding him! Squinting his eyes now. No freaking way.] Are you soulless or something?

[oh. Oh. That's how it's going to be, is it? Forgive Cheren for his 'are you a bit dumb?' look that he's giving Jack, because wow, rude.]

Disliking cold weather doesn't make someone soulless. It just means you prefer warm temperatures.

Jack puts his staff on the ground, which stays perfectly still, and jumps on top of it - crouching like a cute white monkey. He keeps squinting his eyes and looking at Cheren as if he was this very weird thing.]

Is the warm giving you this mood too? Now that would explain it.

[He's not going to question how he's standing on his staff like that, okay. As weird as it is, he's used to strange people doing strange things. His mentor jumps off of cliffs, okay.]

Are you insinuating that you think my attitude is bad because of warmer temperatures? [because wow rude. He has no attitude problems, what are you talking about.]

Even if it were true that I had a poor attitude, I can guarantee you it wouldn't be because of warm temperatures. [spoiler alert: he means it would be because of cold temperatures.]

[Jack keeps staring with an expression that clearly says "booooring". He didn't insinuate anything, by the way, he was pretty direct about the whole thing.]

Hey now, when did I say you have a poor attitude? [He jumps off his staff and leans against it.] I said you have a mood. A grumpy one. Probably the sun melted something up there. [He taps Cheren's forehead with his staff. Feeling the cold yet?]

[yes, that's very, very cold, and he'll be pushing that staff out and away from him. Keep your stick of winter away from him, Jack!]

Mood, attitude, the meaning behind what you're saying is clear no matter which word you use. What's your problem with warmth, anyway?

[He can keep the staff away, but the cold won't go. Because he's cold incarnated. Enjoy his company.]

[SEVERE FROWNING. And waving away any of that snow powder around his face.]

Then take criticism about your job like a normal person, and accept that winter isn't exactly some people's favorite season.

Fun is everybody's favorite. Something you don't seem to be getting. Obviously those other seasons aren't working fine for you, man.

[Cheren is fun-challenged. He acknowledges this fact. Fun is better suited for people like Bianca, Cheren is Mr. Serious.]

I don't see how fun is relevant at all. I didn't mention it, and it has no bearing on our current conversation. For the record, though, there's nothing fun at all about being chilled to the bone.

[Don't worry, he'll bond with Bianca (and Abby) with no problems. That doesn't mean he can't bother Cheren too.]

Well, you know, it is kinda relevant when you're talking to the spirit of winter who also happens to be the Guardian of fun. Just an opinion, it's not like I'm an expert of anything. [Receive all that lovely sarcasm.]

Clearly you aren't, otherwise you wouldn't be so blinded by your own opinions on what 'fun' consists of. [Yeahhhhhh take that.]

Not that I'm sure what a guardian of fun is even supposed to mean, but my point still stands.

It's my job to protect kids and make sure they're having fun. That's what I do as a Guardian. I'd remind you about the joy of snow days, but something tells me you're the kind that actually misses school.

Making a show out of how much you're getting a kick out of something usually implies the opposite. Especially with how appalled you were at the notion of someone disliking winter. [...yes, Cheren would be the type that would want to go back to school and hate snow days.]

That's a very apt observation, considering I'm a teacher at a Trainers' School among other things. [that's partially sarcasm oops not sorry] And I doubt kids need someone to make sure they have fun. They usually finds ways to do that on their own.

How would you feel if a person you just met tells you he doesn't like you? ...or the idea of you, same thing.

[He's teasing, mostly, but he also feels he has all the right to feel appalled!]

You are a teacher and you wonder why I need to make sure that kids have fun? [Does that count as an oxymoron? Let's go with yes.] It's not only about providing them the fun. It's also about protecting them from the bad stuff. You know, like nightmares, dangerous nights, and grumpy educators.

If it were someone I just met, I doubt I'd care too much. [because if he's not going to interact with them regularly, who even cares? And even if he were to interact with them somewhat regularly, it's not like he's always out to make friends...]

Children have parents to do that for them. And when they get older, they can take care of that themselves. [he also resents the grumpy educators remark. He is an A+ teacher okay, because he knows what he's talking about.]

If they get older, they aren't children anymore. Isn't a teacher supposed to know that? [A+ his ass.]

Children don't automatically stop being children because they get a bit older. Kids that are 9 or 10 years old are still children.

If they're still children, then they need us Guardians around. But don't feel bad, man, being a Teacher gives you a reputation by default.

I don't think they need you for anything. I certainly never heard of any 'Guardians' when I was younger.

Don't assume Bianca's disposition is in any way the standard for any world. She's in a special class on her own.
