Oh, you know. Getting picked up and put somewhere and kind of poked at... And you've got this person deciding what they want to do to you, so stuff happens... That 'this kind of thing. I got taken to a whole big city! Way bigger than where Nier lives.

So far it's been anything but fun. And from what you're telling me, it's just going to get worse. Cities are shitholes, just trust me.

I don't know. The apartment I'm in is a lot smaller than my manor, but it feels like a cocoon I like to stay in. And there's this lady who leaves apples for me.

Don't you think it's a nice idea? To see wide, new places? But there are a lot more people than I'm used to, and...

Maybe you could get a travel brochure. I've heard about those. I guess they show you what the places look like. I don't know how that works, but I bet it involves a lot less people!

Not badly. Every day I eat apples and drink some milk. And Kainé, did you know? The sun goes down in this place! But I guess all sorts of monsters come out, then, so no one can go outside... Oh, and I fed birds.

So there are Shades there, huh. And what do you mean, the sun goes down? That's ridiculous, no matter how you slice it.

I don't know if they're really Shades... It seems like they could be, but I guess it's really dangerous. A lot of people there can do really amazing things, all kinds of magic or whatever you can think of, but even that's no good against these things. The buildings have to be sturdy to keep them out.

But, um, it's definitely true...! I don't know what it could possibly look like, or what the sky does or anything, but I can feel it get colder. Isn't that wild? That's what they call it, 'the sun going down,' but I have no idea where it goes down to. It's so weird, Kainé.

Okay, what the hell kind of place even is this? No sun, people doing magic...
