An Unamused Elf

Fate has very little to do with our meeting today for this was predetermined long before you've noticed my presence.

[ A slight frown settles on his lips as he regards the "scribe". It's quite easy to see that he's displeased. ]

Am I bound to you as you are bound to me? If so, this bond will vex us both if we do not strive to nurture it well.

[ He spares the man a quick glance. ]

Of course not.

Are you sure, pal?

Because you're all shiny and stuff. [Kronk wasn't even jealous... he was just amazed. A real man unicorn!]

[ In all truth, Celeborn isn't quite sure why this man thinks he's a "unicorn". Only unicorns cursed by the blight of mortality would ever don a human form or so the fables state.

Eying Kronk rather curiously now, he finally answers him. ]

[ Well there's a handsome man if ever she'd seen one. Aerith smiles brightly and greets him. ]

Oh, it's really not so bad, sometimes you can have a lot of fun with your mun!

[ Unlike his previous encounter, Celeborn greets the maiden with a slight nod. ]

I suppose there's other fates worse than this. Although, I'm admittedly not fond of being at the whim of another.

[ Her smile broadens a little at his greeting ]

Oh I should say! But it really isn't so bad, if you're nice to your mun then you'll be put somewhere where you can make lots of friends.

Or girlfriends!

[ What?! She can't help but tease someone that serious ]

[ A girlfriend? Heavens no! He's married, Aerith, and happily so. ]

Friendships are welcomed but only in the platonic sense.

[ A sigh of relief nearly escaped him once he saw her. It seems that the Valinor have decided to bestow them both with their blessing today.

He honestly didn't expect to see her here. This is such a pleasant surprise! ]

While they are truly blessed, I worry that they may falter soon.

[ He doesn't possess much faith in his scribe. ]

I would say we must seek to embolden their hearts. [She hesitates, a flicker of doubt evident in her face for those who know her well enough to read it.] But perhaps it is selfish of me. The roads they would have us travel may be dark and full of peril. I should not wish such things upon you.

You'll find that these "muns" don't often like to listen to reason. Not to mention prone to being distracted.

[ His brow arched elegantly once he heard that odd nickname. ]

Only a feeble mind is easily distracted and I certainly do hope that this "one" here isn't as weak as others.

[ He's referring to "me", of course. Cocky elf. ]

Given the chance, I do believe this scribe shall perform her new role well.

[She shrugs one shoulder nonchalantly.]

From what others have said, that is what they call themselves, yes. -You'll be surprised, sir elf. This one, in particular, drives me to distraction. I have pressing matters back home and she won't let me go!

[ He would almost like to challenge that notion and prove her wrong. ]

It would seem that "they" do not. However, I shan't be content until my wife and I have been returned to our respective home.

[ Merry is somewhat surprised to see the lord of Lothlorien again, but is nonetheless pleased. The little he'd known of the man made him seem like a thoughtful elf. ]

And you were not so bound before, sir? If it was predetermined, would it not have started then, instead of now?

[ Meriadoc gets Rohan. He does not understand elven precognition. Or whatever it is that they do. However, he does, in simple hobbit sense, think it would have been rather useful on the quest, all told. Could have avoided a lot, if they'd known it was coming. ]

[ A slight hint of recognition shown in Celeborn's eyes once he spotted the hobbit. He remembered Merry and his friends quite well, especially since the Fellowship did come to Lothlorien seeking his wife's aid.

Inclining his head towards the hobbit out of respect, Celeborn answers. ]

Whether this would've began then or there truly matters not, for it was destined to be.

[ And what does that mean? And how does it matter? Merry is so confused by this. Oh well, best leave the elves to their unfathomable ways. ]

A lot of things seem to have been destined to be, of late.

[ Merry shrugs. With Aragorn and Frodo and Legolas wanting to sail and Eowyn defeating the Witch-King of Angmar, there is a rather lot. It's not like he's any part of that. More just a bystander among legends. He'd rather speak of things he does understand. ]

The mallorn tree her ladyship gave Sam has grown wonderfully in the Shire. Folks come from all around to see it. It's very fine.

[ He's dreamed of past times ad adventures under it many times. Though, to him, it rings more of the Ents than Lothlorien, with it's air of the old world. ]
