[After being nudged out into the open, this strange creature is a little reluctant to move from her mun's side. So many strange things happened right bfore appearing here.

Whining softly, Nina paces a circle and tries to hunker down out of sight.]

Oh, hey don't hide...!

[Taiyou's always liked dogs, and this creature seems to be one; albeit, shy. But how come?]

I won't hurt you.

[A lot of reasons. But she looks up with a soft whine, looking at Taiyou with a naturally unreadable expression.]

[Taiyou of course is unaware of what the other kid has had to go through. And... the ending.

He kneels down, gently hushing her whimper. Slowly, he raises his left hand to give her a pet--But she might back away.]

[Not backing away, she lowers her head a little under his touch and quiets.]

[When he stroked her fur it had an odd texture for sure. It... somehow didn't feel entirely natural.

But he ignores it, and gives her a warm little smile in turn. It makes him kind of sad that she won't face him, and thought it might be because of some deeply-rooted insecurity.

He could try lifting it.

Try.

The boy crouches lower, to have a better view of the face hidden behind a disheveled mane.]

... You're beautiful.

[Lifting her eyes to meet his curiously, she tilts her head. Because of the way they are, her eyes have no expressiveness to them.]

Bea...uti...ful.

[It's both a repetion of the word and a question.]

[The emptiness of her stare strikes Taiyou, but it doesn't unnerve him in the slightest. If anything, her quiet grace, solemn as it is, has already told him that they could be friends. He felt it in his heart.]

Absolutely.

[Maybe they can be friends. Nina sniffs his nose and then shifts so she's not tucked into herself as much.]

You are friend?

[Progress! With that feeling of accomplishment fresh in his chest, Taiyou lets out a chuckle.]

Yup. We're friends!

[It takes a few seconds before a realization hits him. His expression freezes. But only for a moment.]

--Hey, you can talk!

Can talk.

[Her head tilts when his expression freezes, not fully understanding why.]

[He ruffles her hair a little, in playful fashion. He didn't mean to worry her!]

I'm just surprised, that's all. I've never seen a talking dog outside of cartoons and storybooks.

Car...toons?

[She doen't know that word and looks to him to explain it for her. She doesn't think to answer the comment relevant to dogs.]

Oh, you haven't heard of them? [Hm...] Do you know drawings, at least?

[Nodding, Nina continues to watch him quietly. She remembers that she loves to draw.]

Cartoons are... drawings that move!

[He spreads out his arms as he says it, eyes bright.]

They're really fun to watch!

Moving pic...tures. Fun.

[She would like to see a cartoon.]

[He nods happily.]

I'd take you to see one! But I don't know if they have a television around here...

[If they don't it can't be helped, but she seems to droop a little anyway.]

[Wait, wait! Not all is lost.]

Hold on, I've got something.

[Taiyou takes two things out of his pocket: a small notepad, and a ballpoint pen.]

[He still has her full attention.]

[Adjusting so that he now Indian-sat, Taiyou begins swiftly doodling over multiple pages starting from the last, flipping to the one before it after every couple of seconds.]

[Shuffling carefully around him, she tries to get a better look.]
