Truly? Of what sort? In the Old Kingdom, most magic is drawn from the Charter, save for Free Magic and necromancy.

[Not like Asgard isn't strange to some extent, to most mortals at least.]

The dangerous sort, ill suited for the mortals of Midgard.

Like Free Magic then. Even though it's forbidden, [To everyone except the Abhorsen.] some still seek to master it. In the end, it consumes them. [And then Sabriel has to go stop them before they raise a zombie army or unleash Free Magic monsters.]

Most of what they do is deliberate. Many of them are very skilled- and very twisted.
