You're not very good at this, you know. I've a feeling that if you truly desired to send me somewhere new, a place with structure and setting, that you would have accomplished that long ago. Let's not forget your failed attempts with applications as of late.

I would not mind, of course. It is highly entertaining, watching you continue to get your hopes up over and over.

Try a little harder, then. And if there is no place for me, then that should not surprise you.

Indulge me. What would such a place be like?

A place with no summer and a long, cold winter, with lots of books -- not out in the ice, of course. Though they could be out in the ice. If you wanted them there.

It would be a wild place, with all sorts of snakes and birds, and other things you favor.

And I would be there, of course!

[ And her face falls, as she remembers what has transpired between them. She had allowed herself to forget, if only for a brief time. ]

[ He considers that, smiling fondly for a moment ... but then it fades. ]

It wouldn't have to be too long a winter.

[ The rest, he is hesitant to answer. ]

We could have thundering snow -- so rare, in its beauty.

Such a rarity would be fitting, would it not?

A bond like ours is even rarer.

I suppose it is not at all common. What does it make us, I wonder?

Come, Loki, would you have me write you poetry? Praise you in song? I am no easy hand at either.

I may just say that I miss you, that there is an ache in a piece of me I did not know was there. I am lesser when you are gone.

Come home, brother. Or, at least, let me find you.

You ask for such things that you know can never happen. Why do you insist? I am not returning to a place I am so utterly loathed by all I had known as Asgard's prince. It is your home, and I am welcome there no longer.

And you certainly seem to do a fine job of locating me whenever you wish to, whether I want you to or not.

[ He pauses a moment, then rubs his temples. ] Despite having every reason to.

We cannot go back to how things were. You know this.

And before you say it, Loki -- I know that does not erase what has been done to you. I know. I can only hope that you choose to come back to me.

As endearing and warm as your hopes are, sister, they are foolish first. You will forgive. I will not.

That I have taken the throne -- this is worse than destroying one of the NIne Realms?

You still do not understand. Stop for a moment and think, Thunderess. I have not once cared for the throne, it was never my reason for such genocide.

How can you claim to wish for me at your side once more when I can see your hatred for me burn in your very eyes?
