[Dammit, where's Banner and the Other Guy when you need him?]

[Clint's actually putting up one hell of a fight when it comes to his free will, but it's crumbling. It's just a matter of time. -So why is he smiling?] Told you not to count me out.

[And cue that arrow from earlier exploding. With a much bigger payload than the last one, too. He's gonna be out of commission for a while, but he'll live.]

[ Is pleased that Clint is putting up such a fight. It'll make his triumph that much sweeter. Feels his will start to bend and... his ears are ringing. Sits up, realizing he's several feet from the jerkcicle. ] ...fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, ... [ Mutters under his breath as he gets to his feet, stumbling back over to Clint. ] Clever.

[No response. That was pretty much his last card to play. His ace in the hole. And even that wasn't fully enough. He got caught in the blast radius and is sprawled about four feet away on his side. His eyes are closed. He's still breathing, which is pretty much the only good bit about this.]

[ Loki didn't expect one. Had Clint been capable of snarking him, he imagines it would have been in regards to his falling for the same trick twice, ...and uh, no. Don't go there. Gets on one knee, taking this opportunity to be a real creeper and inspect Clint to make sure the ice hadn't done too much damage, ...not to mention the more recent explosion. Satisfied, that sounds so bad, he'll be trying to see whether or not his mind is still susceptible to his influence. He's going to ensure that his plan comes to fruition. ]

[It was Clint Barton who detonated the arrow. Clint Barton who's been hurling insults and projectiles (and explosives) in Loki's direction all this time. The person who opens his eyes and sits up isn't Clint Barton. Not entirely. It's all in the eyes, after all.]

[ Sits on his haunches, taking his hand back as Clint awakens. Pleased doesn't even begin to describe this feeling. ] ah, [ Loki all but purrs, lips tightening and pulling his smile just a bit broader. ]

It's good to have you back. [ He would never admit this to anybody, least of all to himself, but there came a strange comfort from knowing that Barton had his back... his actions just as devious as his own probably because he'd be directing them, but still. ]

I had taken a look at you before and found nary but scratch or two. [ Bit of frostbite, maybe. ] But how do you feel, ...are you... [ Never thought he'd hear these words leave his mouth, but he must ensure his merchandise is in the best of condition. ] alright?

[He blinks. Looks down at his right hand. Flexes it a few times. The joints are stiff from cold, but they should be fine given time. Maybe that little voice in the back of his head that's swearing will go away, too. -Oh. Right. He looks up and shrugs.]

Feeling fine, sir. Nothing I can't handle. Give me some credit here; they trained me well. It takes more than that to kill me.

[ He waits for his answer before rising. ] Good. [ Back to being somewhat indifferent. But at that, Barton's quip, he can't help but smile. ] ...and for that I am glad. Let's go. [ He turns, offering no help to the other as he strides to the door. ] ...you're to rest up, heal, and then we've a few debts to collect... and I'm afraid the interest has grown exponentially.

Understood. [He climbs to his feet. Huh. Odd. His left leg feels a little weak. Almost like it doesn't want to work. It fades once he shakes it a few times. Probably just fell asleep from the cold.] Just say the word. They'll never know what hit them.

[ He's not noticed this, but oblivious as he is Loki knows that he needs to be considerably more careful with his pawn. ] No, they won't. [ Stifles a chuckle. ] ...and they'll not be forgetting either.
