You will take absolutely any opportunity to torment me, won't you? Does my grief and remorse entertain you?

Don't answer that, please. I believe I can work it out for myself.

You're a sad, sadistic little person.

A sad, sadistic little person? Well, it's a good thing that we have experience dealing with those now, is it.

YOU KNOW ME ACTUALLY, this is Kates who you met through Toast. c:

We're practically masters at that sort of thing. Or, at least you are.

Unfortunately. You know, Doctor, when I agreed to travel with you, I didn't know that I would be spending my time fighting off every sort of sadists in the universe.

[Well that's probably because he thought he'd kill the Doctor, BUT SEMANTICS.]

But that's my job, dear.

I . . . I don't know. *He sighs.* But you're my hope. You're all that's left of the life I should've had, even though I don't know how to stop.

Do you know why I went mad, Doctor? I've finally found out.

:D

The High Council did it. They sent me a message from the future through the Schism. It's been in my head this whole time, getting louder as I got closer to the time they needed me to respond to it.

I didn't obey, I killed them, but the war drums are still going. And I can't fight, they're too loud and insistant. They removed who I should've been, erased him from history, killed him so thoroughly that I can't even imagine him anymore, to win a war that could not be won and free the nameless things that in your time no one will admit are possible.

Yes! Of course the cause hasn't happened yet for you, won't for another few lives.

And Doctor, it was me or you. Either of us could've gotten that signal, we were the two available.

It certainly entertains me.

[Quiet, Narvin, you're too fog-drugged to enjoy it anyway.]

I most certainly was not! [Evidence is there on the network, yet still Narvin will lie.]

[Who're you gonna believe, Narvin or your own eyes?]

I was addressing Romana, true, but I was not plaintive.

I would admire it as an effective tactic by muns, if they didn't do it only for their own entertainment.
