Like it or not I think you overdid it.

[Dean's of the impression that there could've been another way. Somehow Cas wouldn't have to be stuck seeing Lucifer for the rest of his next however many thousands of years of life. He's knows it's moot and there isn't anything else that he could've done but lying to himself and Cas is the only way he knows how to deal with it.]

I should have died. This was a small price to pay.

[The shock of what he does in the future makes him adamant about that fact. To think he would have gone so far off the deep end to turn his back even on Dean is unthinkable.]

Still get a kick outta the fact that you were married.

[This is getting way too emotional for him so he'll just be cracking a joke now. That's the best way to curb the awkward tension.]

[Castiel frowns for a second before a faint smile creeps into his expression. He knows that Dean's avoiding the bigger issue, but for once he's thankful; there's nothing to be done about the past, even if it's his future.]

I suppose that means I'm no longer a virgin.

And you made an honest woman out of her too.

Would y'look at that.

[mrcomatose]

[He smiles for a moment before the expression fades, and he realizes that he's hurt yet another person in his crusade for Dean's happiness.]

Maybe she's better off.
