I keep thinking that, perhaps, one day I'd like to own a cat.  Something small and little that can mostly look after itself.

The road can get lonely.

And we actually have a lot of PBR boxes laying around.  According to Youtube, cats love to push themselves into boxes.

[He gently pulls the kitten back against his knee and smiles at Judas because...c'mon, He can't stay mad at him.]

[Damn that smile. Judas sighs, catching it from the corner of his eye, before reaching out and giving a quick pat across the cat's back with his hand. There, happy now?]

I've found some good locations we can work on. Seems like our kind of crowd hang out there.

[With that smile? Oh yeah, Jesus is happy! He's practically beaming!]

We might want to try branching out a little too.

[The kitten mews and Jesus strokes down her spine and lets her paw at Judas because he knows his friend is a softy under the guyliner and dreads.]

[Ignoring the kitten trying to paw and climb on him, he pulls out his phone and pulls up notes he made earlier.]

There's a big open area where a lot of food trucks come together that gets pretty busy after work and during lunch hours. Sounded like a good place to go that hits all types.

[Guess what Jesus is not doing? He's not stopping the cat from making friends. Sorry!]

That sounds good. Simon and Peter can start handing out flyers. It sounds like there might be all different sorts of people too. And Peter cleans up pretty nicely when he wants to.

[Also? The kitten will not be ignored. Kittens love dreads!]

Peter looks like a saint when he cleans-- OW! [Judas jerks when the kitten grabs a hold of a dread and gets her claws stuck.]

[Jesus laughs, but there's absolutely nothing malicious about it even as the kitten wriggles it's rear for another pounce. He's quick to pick Miryam up and kiss her head between her ears.]

...Little brat. [Judas grumbles at the kitten but there's no bite behind it, rubbing his scalp where the dread pulled.] That's her name with me, now. Little Brat.

Her name is Miryam. Mary said that it would get confusing if I called her Mary. She's probably right.

[Don't be jealous!]

[Not jealous. Not jealous. Not jealous.]

...Probably. [With anyone else, he might have made a bad joke about petting pussy and Mary, but Jesus it would go over his head until someone explained, then he'd be upset.

Just going to tug out a pack from his pocket and free up a cigarette. Easier than talking when he's still a little angry.]

[If Jesus could understand, or divine the reason for Judas' sudden annoyance, he might have explained that the Mary that the kitten was named for happened to be his mother. Honestly. Far too many Marys these days.]

I wonder what she would call you if she could give you a nickname.

[He lifts the kitten so she's eye level.]

Maybe something about how your eyes match.

[Those matching blue eyes narrow a little before he pulls out his lighter, flicking it a few times before the flame springs up, lighting up with a slow inhale and letting out a breath after the cig catches.]

...Suddenly I'm glad it's not male. Or ginger.

[Because he doesn't want a cat named after him.]

I couldn't name her after you either. It would get confusing too.

[Jesus mimics the little kitten's yawn as he sets her down to rest in his lap. ]

And she's too affectionate besides.

[Frown.]

Just because I don't paw all over people doesn't mean I can't be affectionate, if I want to.

[Bro-hugs and rolling into him when it's too hot to sleep inside the sleeping bag doesn't count! The little elbow touches don't either. Not when Jesus' standard is roaming around holding hands with his followers. Peter gets that treatment quite a lot.]

Perhaps one day you'll find someone to be affection with.

[But that's just a bit sad there, in his voice and eyes. He knows something you don't. ]

[Jesus' level of affection is so rare that Judas still doesn't always know what to do with it and sure as hell wouldn't let anyone else get away with it. Just Jesus. Maybe Jesus just doesn't realize that no one else gets even that affection from Judas.]

...Anyone who matters is blind. [Getting philosophical, or more just commenting on the man in front of him.]

That's a bit of a downer.

[but he smiles just the same at Judas and leans into him, head inclined towards him.]

Your secrets are safe with me though.

[Judas glances around, but other than Miryam, no one is around. His eyes close, leaving them just pools of darkness, and he leans into Jesus as well, their heads together.]

Not a downer, just reality. Reality is a dark, terrible place.

It isn't. [He plans to be stubborn on this. Miryam is stubborn as well and flicks Judas with her tail.] Not when you realize that darkness is just another form of light, not it's opposite. You'll understand one day.

Darkness is the absence of light.

[And there's Jesus being all... metaphorical again. Sometimes he can follow it, other times, like now, not at all. It was just frustrating... like now. But it doesn't matter. He deals with it, eyes staying close and just enjoying being close for a moment.]

Stop thinking so small.

[He's trying to teach by letting Judas learn for himself.]

Even if you feel your mind is in darkness, even should you feel sick or used...you need only remember that I'm with you and love you. The light of love can break even through the dark.

[Jesus loved everyone. That was probably the whole problem.]

[Judas let out a breath, his eyes cracking open and looking to Jesus.]

If I was in darkness like that, it means that you're gone. It's the only way. Otherwise, you've been my light since you found me.

[Something he would only ever say with just Jesus to hear.]
