Mun messed up.
...
You know above all else, I dislike mining. Yet you made me mine nine hundred and ninety nine chunks of mythril ore from a desert, in a heatwave with an actual, physically sitting there zombie named Hab with just the odor you should expect from any actually credible member of the undead, salivating at me and my brain as I mined. For days. And nights.
You said it was to recoup some gil. You said that it would make my retainers stop crying. And you did not check the auction house before you sent me off.
What was the price history of a piece of ore, again?
20 gil. Now, my retainers are crying because they cannot move for chunks of ore. And possibly eyeing side jobs for miners of whom can actually sell what they excavate.
...No more mistakes like that again, please.

Defense mode!]
...I'd rather die. Or have my brain eaten.
Though I suppose if my brain was eaten, death would be part of that. Or Hab would have a friend. ...Perhaps.
[Thinking out loud, Mir?
yyyep.]
...Hello. How have you been busying yourself?
no subject
You could do what I do. [shrug.] Buy skins, or timber, or ore, and sell leather, lumber, and ingots back. [It works pretty well!] Or materia. That seems to work well for mages.
And I have been busying myself by being beaten into fine paste by primals. [Wince. It's hyperbole, but not by much. Garuda hits hard.]

I am planning on turning the lot of it into ingots for later sale. It is the only thing which can be done, as I have no mind to sell at a loss, even if the fire shard cost will be massive.
[His ears actually flatten a little at that. Yes, yes she does. Between that and being chased by tonberries that's... what he's been doing for the past twelve knows how long.]
You are collecting materials for the drunken blacksmith in Hystmill as well? He appears to have many clients sent to him from Mor Dhona.
[Though Drividot isn't the first. As always, Rowena in Mor Dhona certainly knows how to get a profit... Which is worrying.]

Buying the ores and then selling the ingots is faster and involves less mining, though. Since that seemed to be your...major concern. [And ugh he feels you on the Thanalan sun. There aren't nearly enough actual caves to do mining in...]
I wonder how Gerolt managed to get in that much debt with Rowena, then, if she can send so many to him via that threat.

Mmmn. Materials, probably...
[His voice turns distant. Talking about events five years later is probably not good in multiple respects, most prominent being the question of how he knows so much about the past, but... Rowena, and her "Ishgardian boss" aren't to be trusted. Since she and said boss happened to supply a certain someone with enough tomestones to work out how to set Dalamud into motion.]

Goodness, I'm going to dread the days I have to wander deep within the desert for the sake of my new chore.
[ His hands are covered with blisters these days. Not a pretty sight. ]

is just wonderful. Especially in raincatcher gully.]
It is lucrative...
aside from mythril, that is.
no subject
I myself can use mythril at some point or another but...
My mundane is suggesting that mayhap your retainers can sell them in the markets... If he is correct, that may yield some very hefty gil.
Providing that... my own mundane is to be trusted...
no subject
That was her intent. However, she neglected to check the price history at the auction house before sending me away. [A small mumble.] Twenty gil each.
[But is that an opportunity to offload some ore?!]
You need not worry over payment. I- I would be happy to be rid of some. Pleasetakesome.

In retrospect, my mundane does somewhat of the same with Carbonized Matter... His miner, Albert, mines 99 of these things when he or I run out of gil...
Would it be out of line of me if I said it borders on.... obsession?

Catalysts are always useful! Though the price for grade I is low, it always sells very quickly as materia melding has grown very common.

I require fire shards to serve as a catalyst in order to smelt the ore into ingots. Unfortunately, fire shards require more mining, as purchasing them outright would cut into any profit margin by around...
[Pause.]
62%. Approximately, give or take recent fluctuation of the Ul'dahn markets. And that is based upon a purchase price of 200gil per ingot, last observed some nights ago. Taking a possible 5% variation either up or down considered...
around 70%, after taxes.
[Math is fun!]
no subject
[Ignoring all that math because she doesn't know how. She may be from Ul'dahn but damn if she has any head for money.]
no subject
That is kind, but your mundane would be far better served selling them, or using them. With the amount of goldsmiths around and popularity of their wares, fire shards are precious. Perhaps moreso than Lightning.

That's unusual. Highly so. The thought of it makes his ears flatten.]
...Then a trade. I can manufacture natron. I was told by my guildmaster that leatherworkers have need of the substance in copious amounts. [And Severian, if anything, is accurate. Even when preoccupied.] Would a deal like that be to your approval?
no subject
If you really feel you must, lad. Like I said, I have no issues just lettin' people have what they need.
[This is why she doesn't have a proper house...and will turn out a monk.]
