On getting back on the rp horse

I was hoping that I could finally get some peace and quiet around here, but now that you are dragging me out I can see that is not possible.

You are just as bad as that damn novice. Leave me be, I have work to do- important work. Unlike some.

[It's cool, she doesn't know him well either yet.]

I'm not familiar with this poking activity, but I've found there's always a bigger waste of time to be found. They're very creative that way.
givetheslip: better hope this doesn't awaken something in me re: roleplay (bloodlines > courtesan)

[Close enough.]

That and plucking us from our lives at disparate and confusing points. I'd prefer to discover my future by living it, not by meeting strangers who seem to know it better than I do.

Then you are quite lucky, unless you wish to learn that you will one day become a parent by meeting your many-times-over great grandchild.

Quite recently. I'm still not sure what to make of it.

That's certainly one word for it. It did not help that I was the last person to know who his great grandfather would be.

[It was awkward.]

I never expected to marry anyone again. Altaïr makes a fine traveling companion, but I had not considered him as a husband.

[Raising an eyebrow]

That I had never imagined Altaïr to be more than a friend and ally.

[Okay, buddy, way to be huffy.]

Maria Thorpe. Formerly of the Knights Templar.

Please don't forget the "formerly," I know your ears work. I've long since left their service.

Excuse you, I had my reasons.

[And she might not feel like explaining them to Mr. Grumpydick.]

I met him when he came to kill Robert de Sable and found me in his place.

We knew he would come. The Assassins are very good at what they do, but they are not the only ones.

[Okay, so there's a tiny tiny bit of Templar pride left.]

I was not his target; he chose to be merciful, whereas I would have happily put a knife in his back at the time.

How lucky for me.

[Her tone is just dripping with not-sincerity.]

When we met again, I liked him no better, but in time I saw the Templars' goals for what they truly were, and my alliance changed.
