oh for the love of -
I had hoped that you would know better; strength of discipline is a wonderful trait, and I'm disappointed that you don't seem to have a grasp on it. I can't stand the thought of wasted potential, you know that much to be true; if you're going to do anything with this, then you're going to do it properly or it's a futile action.
The way I see it, our duties and priorities both direct us elsewhere, anyway; you're aware that I have goals that must be seen out. Furthermore, surely you understand the importance of those goals; the ugliness that darkens the world cannot be allowed to spread, to pervade what little still remains pure...!
You argue with my methods, but sending me here - or anywhere else, for that matter - isn't going to deter those goals from being carried out; I'll be utilizing those methods, whether you agree with them or not. So shall I ask what it is that you hope to achieve? Or are you going to make that into just another futile action?

[...You're providing this as though it's new information.]
I know the consequences of my actions, and the toll it would ultimately take; there would be good people among that number. I've known that from the start - that some that would fall would be good, decent people. It's not a matter of passing judgement on your mother, it's simply a fact, albeit an unfortunate one.

[ she knows he thinks highly of Sycamore, at least, and that Sycamore would not approve of this plan.
...if he ever realized what Lysandre was saying beyond "oh how passionate"... ]

[...oooh.
It's not going to cut quite as deep as the question about the Pokémon - that was something else entirely, and unexpected besides - but still. Low blow.]
What of him?

It wouldn't only be unfortunate; that doesn't change the necessity of it.

[ because god help him, she will not let up until he answers the damn question. ]

What are you trying to accomplish by arguing this with me? If you're trying to force a realization, it's likely one that I've already had - many times over.

[ understanding him a little might make her want to pull her hair out in frustration a little less! ]

And your hope in understanding it would be...what, exactly?
