Here's the thing...I've spent most of my short life inside of either an incubation tube or being trained in a lab. I'm not using this as an excuse, but it also means it's harder to figure out what the hell is going in the world.

Anyway, a division in N.O.W.H.E.R.E. warned me about dangerous metahuman youths, you being one of the more prominent ones. I tracked you down for them and we fought, something I came to regret by the end.

[At the time, he had been thinking that in another time and place, they all could have been friends. Now he's finding out there's some truth to that.]

[Grins.] You also told me I'm hot. [Because that's important.]

[ Hesitating, Cassie opens her mouth to speak but quickly stops herself and crosses her arms to think. He sounds sincere and what he's saying makes sense, especially for Conner. She would like to think she understands, but she doesn't. She understands Conner. Her Conner. Cassie's expression softens considerably.

The last part is unnecessary though. Still, it makes her grin. ]

Don't forget who you're talking to Superboy.

I won't, I remember how hard the you I know can hit. Not an experience I'm looking to repeat in any shape or form.

Who won? [ She can't help but ask. Not that she plans to hit him. ]

I did. [He doesn't sound too thrilled about it.] I took out all of the Teen Titans. But I didn't turn you in to N.O.W.H.E.R.E or any of the other metahumans.

[ The first thing she wonders is why she even asked. ]

Why not?

Because you didn't deserve to be hurt like that. None of you did. [Looks away.]

I was even thinking that in a different time and place, we all could have been friends. [Looks back at her.] You seem like someone I'd want to know.

[ Cassie finds herself looking away when he does. Her feelings are mixed; she admires his boldness, but the twinge of guilt is irrepressible while the heat rises in her cheeks. After another moment of hesitation she forces a smile. Thankfully the truth in her next words make them pass through her lips with certainty. ]

If you tell the Titans what you just told me you probably could be friends. [ Cassie is also very glad the warmth in her cheeks is mostly gone, and that she can smile, for real. ]

Let's just say where I'm from it's way more than just a probably.

[ Like she already just give that away. Still, she can't be sure what they're like in his world, but it can't be any worse than what she saw in a warped version of her future self. Especially after hearing Conner out. ]

Maybe, I haven't had the best of luck with friends. [Shrugs his shoulders lightly. The only person he's really considered his friend almost tried to kill him. Still, she had been the only person who had ever treated him as something more than an experiment or a weapon. Which is why he saved her life, even after she attacked him.]

But even my luck has to change at some point. [Trying not to be too obvious about checking her out. He'd only met her counterpart briefly back in his world, but he had found her attractive and even attempted to get her to join him. Of course, he knew the answer would be no before he even asked her but he figured there was no harm in asking.

This version of her was every bit as attractive as the other.]

You can't rely on luck.

Fortunately for me I have my tactile telekinsis. [Though it hasn't exactly been useful in the whole making friends department.]

My mun has a couple of places she's thinking of sending me to, we'll see how that goes.

[ That first statement makes her laugh. ] What do you mean fortunately? That's the last thing you are going to want to use when trying to calmly approach someone.

[Grins and takes a step closer to her.] Oh, so you're saying something like this is a better approach?

Um.. Yeah. That would be what I'm saying- What I said. [ Right? This would be a good time for her to stop staring. ]

[Stops right in front of her and keeps his eyes steady with hers.] Any other suggestions?

[ Blinking a couple of times Cassie tries to clear her head, but it's hard. She hates herself, her heart is pounding so fast. It's not really fair. Cassie knows she's stronger than this. Leaning back only slightly she manages an awkward forced smile. ]

Suggestions? I can think- [ Too long of a sentence. ] Maybe you should ask to join the Titans? [ Oh yeah, if he's not sent somewhere terrible all alone. ]

Maybe. What about you? Are you going anywhere?

[Superboy on the other hand doesn't look like he has any intention of putting space between them. He's felt this kind of attraction towards someone a couple of times, but each time something always seemed to interfere.

In the worst possible ways. Nothing ruins a moment quite like a girl throwing up due to superspeed or crashing into a building.

This time it looks like he might actually have a chance to explore it. The feeling sure beats a lot of other feelings he's experienced recently.]

When the other you told me I was hot, the feeling was mutual. She looks just like you too.

Maybe. I dunno yet. My mun is looking at a few places. [ Cassie knows she doesn't need to speak so fast. She's just carrying on this very normal conversation... Superboy's last statement partially snaps her out of this daze. ]

Imagine that. [ Cassie and Cassie (probably) look the same. ] You do too. [ Wait a second. ] Not like me, like Superboy. My Superboy. [ She'll be taking a side step now. ]

[And then of course, there's him saying the wrong thing. Something he's also good at. Looks disappointed and then grumpy as she steps away.]

Your Superboy? Figures.

I'm sorry. [ She really didn't mean to say it out loud, but the guilt on top of the fact that she was leading him on was too much not to. For a moment she feels angry about the guilt she's carrying; she can't help her feelings, she wants to, but when it comes to Conner it's almost impossible. ]

Why? It's like I said before. I try and take the "nice" approach and this is exactly the kind of thing that happens. I don't know why I was expecting anything different.

No! It's not like that! [ She's torn between defending herself and proving to him that she means it. Finally she sighs. ] Don't take it personally.

If it's not like that, then what is it like? [Raises a brow at her.]

I like you. [ That's not the best start she could have gone with. ] It's just... You remind me of Superboy, and it's not just the way you look, it's the way you act too. [ Cassie feels a little strange saying this after only just meeting him, maybe he thinks it's weird too. ]

We were close. [ She won't correct herself, he knows what she meant. ]

[Huh, this new. It's not guilt he feels when he looks at her, something he felt towards the Teen Titans back home. No, this is something new. This feels a lot like sympathy.

Catches on to the 'were' part, did something happen? She's giving off a vibe of sadness.]

I like you too. Heh, you might seriously be the first girl I've met that hasn't wanted to kill me. [Feels like he should say or do something more. What did people do in that one book he read?

Oh right, they put their hands on the other person's shoulder while talking to them. Reaches over to rest his hands on her shoulders.]
