(no subject)

...this is a terrible idea.

I'm used to it here; the darkness doesn't bother me, the silence is now comforting, the chill something I bear without notice. But you! You want to send me back. You want me to follow him into the light and then tear me from him for your own amusement - oh, yes. You call them "games" for good reason, despite your nonchalance. The subject matter shouldn't be taken lightly.

I am not your muse. You should rethink this.

And how would you go about it, great hero?
olympic_lion: (I'm everyone's dope homey.)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet Aphrodite. Do you really think that if I went to politely ask dear Uncle Hades for our lady's release, he would refuse me?

It worked for Theseus, after all. [Okay, not Pirithous, but then Eurydice probably hadn't been trying to take off with Uncle's wife.]

He would make you pay. His prices are usually quite high. {Though she might want to watch.} Mortals of this sort are so tiresome. Why waste the effort?
olympic_lion: (You know sunrises never get old)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And if it's reasonable, I'll pay it gladly. If it isn't, I have a coupon. It reads, 'Give me what I want or I tear your Underworld down around your ears.' It's a very good coupon, I think.

[It's her second comment that made him sigh, shaking his head; see, it's this kind of attitude that makes him prefer the company of men to gods.]

Doubtless their struggles seem so tiny to you, watching idly as the ages pass you by untouched. But you never will understand from your lofty height, Aphrodite; humanity is something that has to be experienced from the inside to be appreciated. And what you perceive as tiresome can be more profound than you may ever choose to grasp.

I'd hardly call that a coupon, Hercules. Really, when a threat is a threat, call it a threat.

{Oh shush you rebellious man-child you. She will get grumpy.}

That was a mouthful. Are you tired after that speech? {With a snap of her fingers, a goblet of wine appears.} Here.
olympic_lion: (Heh. Never said I was perfect!)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but euphemisms are so much more enjoyable!

[He knew she'd just ignore it entirely. He knew, and yet...

Well, dramatic speeches are all part of being a hero, really. If nothing else, it kept his hand in. And he will accept the wine, anything else would just be insulting.]

A trifle parched, I daresay- but thank you for your well-timed aid. With such generosity, it's no wonder you're the best-loved of us all. [A smile, and a thirsty quaff; no point in wondering what she'd done to it after all, now was there?]

They do pass the time. {She conjures a goblet for herself - this one far more...well...petite. She isn't a big heroic man, after all.} I am best-loved because I am meant to be best-loved.

{What does it matter if she has mixed something extra intoxicating in with his wine? He'll be fine.}

Ever a concern among the family, yes. [Very dry voice, there; best cured by drinking that spiked wine, yes? (And really, so long as it's not extra-paralyzing or extra-soporific it's good. Extra-intoxicating? He might've asked for that.)

Of course, given his experience with- and subsequent tolerance for- various Godboozes, that's just enough to start him getting buzzed; he'll smile more cheerfully at the Lady of Love.]
All the world loves a lover, eh? I'd surely not dispute it.

[He'll finish the goblet and set it aside, hand going to his head for a moment; WHOO, Aphrodite brings the good stuff!]
