(no subject)

...this is a terrible idea.

I'm used to it here; the darkness doesn't bother me, the silence is now comforting, the chill something I bear without notice. But you! You want to send me back. You want me to follow him into the light and then tear me from him for your own amusement - oh, yes. You call them "games" for good reason, despite your nonchalance. The subject matter shouldn't be taken lightly.

I am not your muse. You should rethink this.

Oh please stop with the melodramatics.

[personal profile] sweetpassions 2013-09-15 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yours is a tragic love, child. Nothing can alter your fate.
olympic_lion: (I'm through playing the buffoon.)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I wouldn't be entirely sure about that, fair Sister. It's none too difficult a fix.

[personal profile] sweetpassions 2013-09-15 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
And how would you go about it, great hero?
olympic_lion: (You do not speak of a lady that way.)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
To set you forth and drag you back, that would be vicious amusement indeed...

But I cannot help but wonder.

What if you were set free? What would you- or for that matter, your mundane- do if you truly were able to go back, no strings attached?
olympic_lion: (I'm everyone's dope homey.)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet Aphrodite. Do you really think that if I went to politely ask dear Uncle Hades for our lady's release, he would refuse me?

It worked for Theseus, after all. [Okay, not Pirithous, but then Eurydice probably hadn't been trying to take off with Uncle's wife.]

[personal profile] sweetpassions 2013-09-15 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
He would make you pay. His prices are usually quite high. {Though she might want to watch.} Mortals of this sort are so tiresome. Why waste the effort?
olympic_lion: (You know sunrises never get old)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And if it's reasonable, I'll pay it gladly. If it isn't, I have a coupon. It reads, 'Give me what I want or I tear your Underworld down around your ears.' It's a very good coupon, I think.

[It's her second comment that made him sigh, shaking his head; see, it's this kind of attitude that makes him prefer the company of men to gods.]

Doubtless their struggles seem so tiny to you, watching idly as the ages pass you by untouched. But you never will understand from your lofty height, Aphrodite; humanity is something that has to be experienced from the inside to be appreciated. And what you perceive as tiresome can be more profound than you may ever choose to grasp.

[personal profile] sweetpassions 2013-09-15 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd hardly call that a coupon, Hercules. Really, when a threat is a threat, call it a threat.

{Oh shush you rebellious man-child you. She will get grumpy.}

That was a mouthful. Are you tired after that speech? {With a snap of her fingers, a goblet of wine appears.} Here.
olympic_lion: (Heh. Never said I was perfect!)

[personal profile] olympic_lion 2013-09-15 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, but euphemisms are so much more enjoyable!

[He knew she'd just ignore it entirely. He knew, and yet...

Well, dramatic speeches are all part of being a hero, really. If nothing else, it kept his hand in. And he will accept the wine, anything else would just be insulting.]

A trifle parched, I daresay- but thank you for your well-timed aid. With such generosity, it's no wonder you're the best-loved of us all. [A smile, and a thirsty quaff; no point in wondering what she'd done to it after all, now was there?]
olympic_lion: (Yeah. I hear you on that.)

[He sighed.] And that truly is the trouble, in the end. I may have the power to bring you out, yet not even I can keep you free if your mundane wills it. The instant my back was turned, said 'mun' would be able to bring you back to the twilit lands- their powers of 'retcon' can outmatch even a god. Permission from Hades, I daresay I could seek and get- but lacking permission of the mundane, it would all be nought.

But even without that one's help, I think I can offer something for you.

[Annnd THAT'S when the lyre came out.] I make no claims to being a match for dear Orpheus, but if it's music you miss- well, hopefully this can help ease your ache somewhat, hmm?

[His fingers strummed the strings lightly, before he set to really play.]

[Hercules might argue the reason, if things were different. He might speak of a hero knowing he has the power to change things for the better, and the responsibility that power brings; he might speak of how a hero knows just how little justice there is in the world beyond what he brings, and how very good it feels to add a little more; he might mention how even beyond riches and rewards and maidens' sweet lips, the true value of knowing you did the right thing is the one that sticks with a man-

He might have spoken of all these things and more, for he's been a hero for a very, very long time. But at the moment? He plays, and he gets to see what good Orpheus always saw in her.]

You are offending no one, and if I felt any offense then we would not be talking.

However this is not one of those Greek plays.

[In other words, lighten up lady.]

[THIS. IS DREAMWIDTH!]

[Naw, he can't so that. She may as well stay a while and hang around some comedians.]

It is merely a game. One that I would have believed a deceased soul to enjoy.

[HATERS GONNA HATE. TOO MUCH MANLINESS FOR YOU?]

And since when are the dead so concerned over what affects the living?

[personal profile] sweetpassions 2013-09-16 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
My point precisely. Your time has run its course.
