As nice as it is of you to offer, the last thing I need is a vacation. [ Isn't that a nice idea? ] You think you know me so well, you should at least know that much. Have you seen what's on my plate?

[ Cassie is being polite, but she doesn't think it will last much longer. ] No matter where you send me or who you try to tempt me with, it won't be the same. [ She meant to say "what" not "who" but it's already in the past. ]

This is a bad idea. [ Cassie is doing a terrible job convincing her mun she doesn't want this. Conner's name was dropped enough times. ]

Nah, I figured as much. Muns're pretty mean like that sometimes.

I missed you too, Cassie. [Still, she can't help grinning.] It's weird, but I've seen some of us hanging around here every now and then. I know I've seen Tim sometimes... it just depends on where you look.

[ The grinning is infectious because Cassie is doing it too. Seeing Cissie is a pleasant surprise, and makes the experience a little better. ]

I don't... [ Losing her words and grin for a moment while she considers Cissie's response, Cassie brushes it off with a question she wants answered anyway. ]

Does your Mun have you in one of these games? [ She says the word games with disdain because all of them are weird, and most of them terrible. Just the idea of those places being a "game" to anyone is infuriating. ]

Not at the moment. She wants to send me back to military school again, over at witchesreign, but I don't know if that's going to work out.

It's not that bad, since I've been there before and my teachers were pretty awesome... but it is military school.

Why would your mun want to send you there? Because regular school wasn't already annoying enough? [ Still, military school sounds better than some of the places her mun's looked at. ]

I wish. I think it's more like I get to learn alchemy and healing magic there, so it'd be an "interesting experience" compared to say, losing my memory or boarding a train.

[ Hmmm. ] Sounds a lot better than what I pictured. [ Kinda neat, even if it is school. ]

It really is. I don't know what kind of experience your mun wants for you, but military school hasn't been that bad for me.

I think the worst's yet to come, though, so don't quote me on that just yet.

How bad can things get there?

Some kind of war's about to break out. But considering it's been "just about to break out" for months, it's more like a weird Cold War.

... At least I'll get to be a doctor on the field when that happens. [They graduate young over there!]

Really? That's pretty impressive. [ Not that she doubts Cissie's skills. She's just so young. ]

I'm kind of psyched. I might have to apprentice first, but I'd get to be a doctor before most people graduate high school!

Yeah? You'll have to let me know if she does decide on military school... but where else is she looking? I know most of these places're pretty... uh... interesting. [She means "disgusting" but is too polite to outright say so.]

I'd be psyched too. [ If she were Cissie. ] How does that work out? [ Cassie doesn't really like school, but last time she checked it took a lot longer than that to become a doctor. ]

Interesting is a word of them. [ But she would also have to go with disgusting. Cassie lists the different kind of places with a tone that is anything but excited. ] She thought about a space ship, a castle, a few crazy islands and a couple of different schools. [ This would be a list that Ca

You spend a year going through the bare basics, and then spend two more years under an apprenticeship before you get to practice on your own. During that time, you also work a ton in the infirmary for "hands-on" experience.

[Hmm...] One of those ships like Stacy or the Thor, right? I've heard of them; they're pretty wild.

You're not learning to be doctors for whatever "the worst" is, are you?

Unfortunately. I'd be kidding myself if I pretended otherwise.

Still, this whole apprenticeship and doctor gig sounds pretty sweet, even for school. [ And stuff. She just wants to be reassuring. ]
