[Yeah. he's annoyed at you tube comments mostly.]
I am increasingly annoyed that I must state this, but the loaf of bread had and HAS long ago ceased to be the issue. So be it though, if I must spell out the facts. The man had broken parole. His initial sentence was not the touted nineteen years, and he earned the rest of what he received through his attempts to escape.
For the love of GOD, I could care LESS about the bread, the law says he paid for that, and so he did. It is everything that comes after. My "obsession" with Valjean was driven by the things that he did after, and his flouting of the very reasonable law that convicted criminals must be on parole. If he had wished to have a new life outside of prison, perhaps he should not have proved that he was indeed dangerous enough to warrant it throughout his years there .
...Other than this, you are doing well by ignoring me for the most part as I continue to ignore you and your presence as much as possible. It seems to be the only way to win with you, and so I shall take that for what it's worth. It is SOMETHING at any rate.

Indeed, I do not. The law is as it is for reasons. It is hardly ours to question that

I question a government that cannot tend to the needs of its people.

And why should I wish to do that?

By necessity, monsieur but not intent.

In that case, perhaps, when there is something to pursue.

He broke parole. As a dangerous man of extraordinary strength? Such things cannot be left to pass. A matter of time before he strikes again, clearly.
Devotion? Merely duty.

Then I wish you the best of luck hunting, monsieur...?

Javert.
do not forget him. Do not forget his name!! It's like a fucking pokemon]My thanks. And you are?

Alas Pastels only number is 9 that doesn't even rhymeHe laughs a little at the unexpected question, eyes turning downwardslook dow-NOPE because he's reminiscing, okay? Totally different story.]See, that's a complicated question. I've had two names for a very long time now, each of those names belonging to a very different life. But after the unfolding of some recent events I gotta admit... I no longer know which name applies anymore.

Two names, monsieur? [And there's some suspicion in that gaze now. Because who takes on a second name, who NEEDS to take it on unless...]
Intriguing.

The second name belonged to the dark- it was the name of a hunter to and through. A man whose bloodthirst could not be sated within the limits of the law.
In a situation like that, monsieur Javert... what name would you think most fitting when that man is uprooted from all that he has ever known, and thrust into a place like this... where chaos reigns over so much, that it's practically become order?

And what of those who rise above such means using the law? Who invoke a legal means to feed themselves and their families and find a way past that? Your example suggests that it cannot be done, when there are others who have found the way.

And I am one such example, thus it can be done, surely.
