Still working on the AU

[What have you done?

What looks like the Sandman (but he can't be--his body is all black and gray) stares at his mun with a tired, yet vaguely annoyed look on his face.

There's work to do. He attempts to shrug away his mun's attention and waves his arms, generating a gray cloud of sands with flecks of gold in it, and he steps on top. Instinctively, he molds the sand so that it is more of an ever-changing cocoon, hiding him from the world instead of revealing it to him.

Tendrils of gray and gold sand flow from the cocoon, seeking out people who have yet to grieve over a recent loss or upheaval in their lives. If the sand touches such people, they'll be overwhelmed with the need to cry or punch something, depending on the way they cope. After sufficient grieving, they'll feel like a weight's been lifted off their chests, and proper healing can begin.]

[ The wave is a small consolation in the face of everything else Jack is looking at before him, but it's something and he'll hold to that. ]

Hey there little man... you feeling okay?

[it's not new. But he hasn't really grieved, not since, and John's reaction is to want to hurt something, but there isn't really anything around except the cocoon, and for some reason that seems like a bad idea. He punches the ground instead, wiping at his eyes furiously with his other hand.]
