Idle muse musings
Having met so many different students and even enemies from a variety of futures and dimensions (616, 1610, movieverse etc) I have to admit that I would find it fascinating to speak with Erik from the future.
I've heard of a few possible series of events, (strange how the one thing they all have in common is the fact that I go bald) but most of these are recounted by my students or members of his Brotherhood. Not that I discount their versions, no not in the least but ...
But it would be something to sit down with my old friend, over a game of chess and discuss how things turn out.

That is most often the reaction I get. Yes, this is what I look like with hair.

[He actually gets that reference. Just barely but he gets it and winces.]
Well, there's a thought that will keep me up at night, thank you Ms....?

[Unfortunately, at this stage in his life the name Logan has no meaning for Charles.]
I take it that we know each other in one of my varied futures?

I am afraid I do not know anyone who would fit that description.
[Logan had been sitting on a bar stool at the time they met and though pointy hair was a good clue, they really had never looked each other in the eyes.]

Well this is different, I've always known you as well, your older self I guess it would be. [Hey at least he isn't saying wheelchair bound.]
I know the two of you are friends, but Professor, are you sure you want to be alone with him. Maybe take Hank, Scott... Even Bobby or I would make decent honor guards. [He'd suggest Jean, but knows he and Scott would follow them and cause trouble keeping an eye on the female member of their class.]

Many of the young people I am fortunate to meet say the same thing, Warren. [He remembers you.]
And I trust Erik not to hurt me, at least so long as I didn't give him cause and I can't expect that a simple game of chess and a conversation would give him cause.

The one I know... well I'd like to give him the chance, but he's started fights before without being provoked and I'm more worried he'd bring someone, you know that helmet of his prevents you from hearing him. [realizes he's rambling.] Guess I don't want you to walk blindly into a trap without some back up.

My offer is as I made it, Warren; Erik and myself, a game of chess and some conversation. I may not approve or trust the things he does or will do in the future and it may be only for that brief period that we can find common, neutral ground but were he to accept my offer, I would not request back-up.
Though I do appreciate and understand where your concern is coming from. Erik can be very angry.

[He nods.] If it happens I'll respect your wishes, but don't think I won't be nervous until you're safely out of his range.

You do have a better understanding of him than I do so you're probably right. [Warren just knows he shows up and metal starts flying about to keep him grounded.]
