You mean the confidence? Sense of security. The bravado and self awareness? Yeah. Everything enhances.

[And maybe this Derek actually does spend too much time with Peter.]

Yeah, I mean... I suppose it's at least a little warranted.

Said no to your Uncle. Considering he was murdering people at the time, didn't seem like a good idea to be signing up to be in his Pack. And you never offered.

Fair enough. Guess that'd be the only valid reason to say no. But what if I asked? I'm kinda shocked that I haven't. You're smart, witty, maybe a bit too sarcastic a times, but you wouldn't make such a terrible wolf.

So you'd learn. And he's not the best leader anyway from what I'm learning from you and some others that actually tell me things around here.

Nah, he makes some stupid decisions sometimes, but he's in a bad place to work from. Short of fleeing to Alaska, there aren't many options that'll keep everyone alive and safe.

[He pauses.]

You really think I'd be good?

My mom taught my sisters and I something when we were younger: We're strongest in numbers. Pack mentality, I guess.

[He nods, a small smile.]

Yeah, I do. Your Derek won't admit it. That or he's just got too much on his plate to be endangering another kid's life.

Also literally stronger. But it's like... at the moment, we're all just a bunch of scared teenagers chasing our own tails - any and all terrible wolf puns not intended - we haven't had chance to learn to work together.

[He smiles back, just a little.]

God, yeah. Not that my life isn't already plenty in danger, but right now 'beta' is like a synonym for 'cannon fodder'.
