You see, because I think some of this stuff should be known to mankind. Whether mankind wants to know about it, however, is an entirely different story.

It's kind of hard to hide a ghost that doesn't want to be hid. Usually if they want to remain unseen, they do. That's kinda part and parcel of the whole incorporeal thingy they have going on for them.

Sure thing! Where should we begin? Restless spirits and their behaviors, I guess, since we're already on that topic.

I know! Usually I have it slicked back, but wearing it this way keeps my cowlick from showing too much. It's the give and take of fussy hair, I guess.

That is when you help them pass on. Either find out what is keeping them there or trick them into an exorcism. The problem comes with the irregular spirits.

Alright. Your average spirit doesn't cause too much harm. They're bound for some reason or another. Workaholism is actually one of the more common reasons. They can be violent, but don't tend to kill their victims.

The problem comes when you're dealing with a spirit such as a Liche or a Wraith.

I'd put liches and wraiths into the category of semi-corporeal undead rather than incorporeal spirits, because they actually become corporeal for more than split seconds like things in the poltergeist family tend to do. And those are the more restless, malevolent spirits out of the group. But then again, I have a pretty advanced coding system for most of the stuff I investigate.

And that's really all I do is observe? I can get people into touch with people who are professionals and can actually take care of the stuff that's plaguing them, but I try to stay as hands off as possible with most of the weird thingies that I come across. It gives them less of a reason to get all grudge-y and nasty.

Believe me, I know the distinct hell of prominent freaky hair. It was waaaay worse when I was a kid. All you can really do is hope to whatever higher power that's in charge of hair grants you mercy.

Well I suppose you are right. Whereas a spirit has lost its body the liche and wraith both have a corporeal form. In the case of the Liche I came across its soul was placed into a tree. In the case of the Wraith however it used possession as the primary method of harm.

Its body was in fact the only way to even harm it.

We do have individuals that act in this way too. They access a situation rather than going hands-on and then report back so someone like myself can deal with the situation. Of course there is still some danger in that.

Yep. Basically my problem in a nutshell. Mostly I rely on industrial-strength gel, since letting it grow out didn't even help very much. I mean, it kind of did, in places, but the weird just moved elsewhere.

Oh man, you don't have to tell me about the dangers of it. Man, there have been some really close calls. I've been doing this since I was a little kid, and even now, I know there's just some stuff that's way over my head.

Like interdimensional guardians? Nope, not my department. I pick up an elevated level of EMF and some static on my tech? I'm the hell outta there. Not today, tall and faceless, not gonna happen.

And oh man if I could find a gel that worked, I'd kiss the CEO of the company that manufactured it so fast, it'd make them wonder how I got in their office. No such luck for them, yet.

Yes I have quite a bit of experience with that. In fact the creature you're referring to looks much like the Liche I encountered. Although I have experience with an interdimensional creature as well.

Oh, they're way worse than liches. I mean, the kids they kidnap could probably fall under the wraith umbrella if you're being particularly giving and kind that day, but... Yeah. Not my department. Get one of the hunters on that if they're feeling particularly self-sacrificing.

The stuff I use is about 75% effective, maybe a little less, I don't know, you'd have to ask Hermann, he's the numbers guy, I do the squishy stuff.

Biology, I mean, not cooking, I'd probably set something on fire if I tried cooking. I'm pretty sure I could set something on fire just making a sandwich.

Oh, I believe things should be uncovered, but I've spent too long under the watchful eye of my own shadow agency to know that a lot of it won't be. I've pretty much given up trying to expose the giant mess, mostly because people are unnecessarily rude and unforgiving, and tend to assume I'm a crackpot.

But don't get me wrong, I'm interested in your organization. You just got me kind of reliving my war stories, you know? So tell me a little about it, what's the name of the organization? What do they do?
