Commencing facepalm in 3, 2, 1. [Canon is Pacific Rim]
You sure do have a type when it comes to the characters you decide to pick up, don't you? Is five lines of dialogue or less a requirement with you or something? I mean, you could have at least waited until you got your hands on the comic before shoving me into a journal. Patience is a virtue sometimes. And yes, I know that I am starting to sound like Pentecost, but you seem to inspire that kind of thing.
I haaaaaaaaad to
Yes. That is a baby kaiju who happens to have a very beaten up looking old oil drum clutched in its tail claw. Hey, drumming made the other hunter-creature like it better! And this one is yelling!]
YOU DID NOT.
Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you are the baby kaiju) he does not currently have his two thousand ton skyscraper tall robot of kaiju death with him. That does not stop him from dropping into standard combat stance...not that he really has anything to fight a kaiju with on him.]
YOU CAN'T FIGHT THE ADORABLE FOREVER
It snatches back the drum and backs up, tripping on itself pretty quickly and falling in a heap because it's not the most graceful creature on land. It makes a mournful little cheep.]
FIGHT IS THE WRONG WORD CHOICE THERE.
As it is, the sad chirp does not do much to convince Yancy that he can drop the combat stance. Kaiju have played dead and clumsy before, with disastrous results for any Ranger dumb enough to let down their guard.
He should know.]no subject
Man where are its mind-bonded creatures when it needs them? :c ]

Hi, Yancy, have a Jaeger AI
"Greetings, Pilot Yancy Beckett."
no subject
Uh. Hi.
no subject
Oh, that's right, he should probably introduce himself, shouldn't he?]
"I'm Clu 1.0, formerly AI of the Jaeger designated Space Paranoids, and soon-to-be AI of the Jaeger currently designated 'The Mean Green Machine from Outer Space'."
[Pause]
"They're working on the name. I think."
no subject
Hopefully. That one is a bit of a mouthful to shout over the comm lines.

As far as I'm concerned, though, they can call it whatever they like, as long as it gets me back to doing what I was programmed for."
[Because as much as he appreciates not being stuck in a digital coma anymore, not being part of a functioning Jaeger is starting to make him antsy.]

At least you had dialogue, Yancy Becket.
no subject
sob he is so proud, of all of you.]Touche, Gipsy, though apparently there is a robot of some sort in this so called headspace that understands how you feel. Something called an Escaflowne that the mun or whatever they term themselves played as having true sentience, much like yourself.

She thinks it's good to know she's not alone. You did not have enough 'exposure', she thinks - I feel much the same.

Such is the fate of those doomed to play Plot Device Via Death. I would have liked to have been able to stay on and fight alongside you and Raleigh longer, but Mako did good. I can't be too upset for that.
no subject
She did. [ Gipsy can concede to that - she liked Mako well enough. She just wasn't Yancy. There wasn't time to bond with her like she'd done with the boys.
There's a 'but' in her statement, though -- you know. She doesn't vocalize it. ]

Honestly, I'm glad to see you. God knows we need more rangers around here.

I heard that things went from bad to worse after, ah, that night. Thank you for keeping an eye on Raleigh when you could. And, I am sorry about your son.
no subject
And, hey. It was my pleasure. Your brother is a good Ranger, and I'm glad he came back.
[A pause.]
Thanks. That means a lot.

[He hesitates, then reaches out to clap his hand on Herc's left shoulder. Damn but he was never really good at these sorts of things.]
He was a good pilot.
no subject
[Chuck was one of them.]
Yeah. He was. [And it's a subject that Hercules Hansen really tries to avoid.]
Still, he helped your brother save the world.

/fistbump of minimal dialogue and died-for-plot
[She grins at him, aloof amusement visible in her eyes.]
Could be still inside Kaiju stomach.
no subject
[He grins back, albeit a bit slowly. Aleksis can be...intense, from his limited experience with her.]
And, yeah, I guess you have a point there. And there are plenty of worse places to wind up setting wise than a beach in Hawaii.
no subject
It will be . . . different. Sun. Warmth. Lack of snow.
[She looks more intrigued than apprehensive.]
You know I will be coming to join you, yes?
