An excellent point, but kinda moot, seeing that she apparently doesn't have time to even make time.

It always seems like whenever they don't have time, it's perfectly logical to busy themselves even more.

[He shrugs, giving her a soft smile. He has no doubt that she would if he asked.]

He wasn't able to come through the Door with me the first time, but he's with me now.

[She lets out a breath, but her brow remains furrowed.]

... I never figured a door was something that could stop dragon, especially one like Toothless.

It's...not really a regular Door.

[He pauses, looking for an explanation.]

...I saw my mother last week, if that's any indication to how different it is from regular ones.

[stormflies]

Woah. But she's- [Choose your words carefully, Astrid.] I mean...oh Hiccup.

[She shuffles somewhat awkwardly, worrying her lower lip with her teeth.]

That could be a good thing, couldn't it? I mean, you got to see her again.

I know. It gets kind of crazy in Anatole.

[He scratches the back of his neck a little awkwardly, nodding. He did spend time with her, but...the whole time he was thinking it would've been better if someone else had come through for another person instead of her for him.

Instead of continuing on that train of thought, he coughs to clear his throat, giving her a smile.]

So! What's in the plans for you?

Anatole? So that's where they're keeping you and Toothless?

[She frowns, crossing her arms over her chest with a huff.]

Who knows? Though my mun is apparently interested in that door place.

[Which could be a good thing, someone has to keep him from getting himself killed.]

Yeah. It's not so bad I guess. We've got a roof over our heads and some friends.

[Hahaha not going to mention going into the Mist - a fog that makes you hallucinate and nightmares come to life - to rescue one of said friends. He grins a little nervously before he visibly perks at that.]

[She squints at him briefly before offering a grin and a quick punch to the arm.]

At least I'll be able to make sure you and Toothless don't go flying off into who knows what. Especially without me.

[He reaches up to rub his arm, mostly out of reflex, before he returns the grin.]

That's...that's great. [He pauses and gives a slight wince.] Don't...you won't hate me if I don't remember you, right?

[stormflies]

[She freezes, her expression slackening for a moment before a fresh frown forms on Astrid's face.]

Wait what do you mean you won't remember me? [Her tone is alarmed, and wary, and even a little hurt.] Why in the name of Odin wouldn't you remember me? Hiccup, what are they going to do to you?

[He tugs a little nervously at one of his sleeves - an old habit that had formed whenever he got into trouble with his father - and he glanced out the corner of his eye away from her, biting his bottom lip.]

There's...there's going to be this event next month...I was working on a better mode of transportation with some other people, and, uh, there's going to be a monster that comes through. [He grimaces.] It's going to give some of us false memories...and my mun is planning on having me forget you.

[stormflies]

But that's not...

[Fair, she wants to say. But it makes her sound childish.

Instead Astrid scowls determinedly her lip curling.]

I'll just have to make you remember me then.

[He doesn't think it's fair either, but then again when has anything in his life been fair? It still kind of seems odd how easy it will be to forget the girl of his dreams.

That comment makes him smile a little teasingly though.]

The hard way I bet.

[She smiles slightly in return.]
