Muse is putting her foot down

I go where Kitten goes, mun.

I know that I'd have to rebuild our relationship and she wouldn't be my girlfriend there, but I worry about her. I have to keep her safe. So that's my one request, alright? Even if she goes to a creepy horror game, if I'm going to be a good girlfriend, it's, like, just natural I go there with her.

Wow, Shimmer! That's really, totally sweet of you!

[Kitten forces a smile as she says this, but on the inside she's thinking "Oh my God, what have I done? This girl is crazy!"]

I'm just worried like any friend would be. I mean, everybody back home has magic, even if we're not allowed to talk about it. You... well, you're a great person, but you don't have anything to protect yourself with.

But magic is powered by friendship on my planet, so we'll be okay. I won't let anyone hurt you, whether we're friends or girlfriends. I mean, that's just not right. So, like, it's not a big deal.

["Oh thank heavens, she is an alien!" Kitten thinks "It really is just a customs thing! What a relief!"]

[Though now Kitten feels guilty for not letting on that she DOES have stuff to protect herself with, and that this whole friendship with Shimmer was just started up because she was afraid they wouldn't cut it against certain others.]

Yeah, but we just recently met! And already she's talking like this!? I wanted protection, but this is totally ridiculous! I think she may not be..."well", if you know what I mean.

Yeah it's kind of weird, but maybe she's not from y'know around here? I mean aliens exist, right? So maybe that's just whatever culture she grew up in having an effect on how she's acting.

Hm, you could be right. Well, whatever, I'm not getting rid of her now, she'll come in way too handy later. I'm sure I can totally handle whatever it is her issues are!

Fang was pretty different too so I think you can handle her just fine. Besides she seems like she might be a good girlfriend and you can go on dates without her causing a scene.

Well, she's just been so nice to me, and she doesn't have any magic of her own! I don't want her to get hurt. Maybe I'm overdoing it - it's weird to meet people without magic - but she's a great person. She deserves a friend wherever she's going, at least.

It's probably better that you're overdoing it rather than not doing enough.

It'd be less of an issue if there were some people from her canon around to help her out. She needs more friends than just me... what if I'm not good enough?

[She rubs the back of her head nervously.]

I guess I should point out the only friends a mun around here would pick up is our former boyfriend Fang or Daddy. So you're as good as it's going to get.

Oh. Well, if her ex shows up, then will - will she leave me?

I doubt it. We were talking and she seemed pretty determined to stay with you. Besides Fang is kind of a jerk anyway.

Great! If he shows up, though, I'll have a talk with him. If he wants to be friends with her, that's fine, but no one gets to be a jerk to Kitten. Not while I'm around.

She doesn't care that I only have a little magic, she let me paint her, she thinks my art's good, she kind of went bi for me - she's so sweet and kind. I can't help it, she's just a nice person. Who wouldn't like her, honestly?

[Kitten blinks a bit surprised. This girl really liked this other her and not in just the spoiled little crush sort of way that she had with Robin. It was some genuine caring and Kitten wasn't used to that. It made her just the slightest bit more honest.]

Well we're not exactly used to this sort of attention without having to fight for it so I guess you can say we're not as nice to other people.

But that'll change, once she finds more people that appreciate her - and your - good qualities. Just give it time. If you've had to fight for attention of course you'd be a bit less nice. It's, like, a natural reaction or something.

Since you're being so nice I'll let you in on a bit of a secret about me you probably haven't been cued in on. It's nothing personal or embarrassing just not something that likely came up in conversation.

She's been understanding of me. And she doesn't have many friends, so she deserves to be understood in return - so she'll open up a bit. I know there's a great person in there waiting to bloom.

That's alright, then. I've gotten her flowers, but other than that I'm a little clueless. What is it?

I really like dressing up. Costumes and dresses are really cool to me. I have a closet full of them.

Though you can never go wrong with flowers and jewelry too.

I live with my grandparents, and they have a flower shop. It's easy to get ahold of flowers for me, so I have to ask while I've got you here what your favorite flower is.

No problem. I can show you some of the costumes I've got. Though they're based off people I know so it's not exactly something you're going to get, but I'm pretty proud of them anyway.

[She tilted her head at that trying to think.]

It's really hard to say. I like the color pink though so you can't go wrong with pink flowers. I think whatever you feel is a good arrangement should work.

That's a really cool collection to have. I'll have to work hard to find something new if you've got a variety, but it's a great gift idea. I'd love to see some of your costumes if you don't mind.

Got it. Pink in nice arrangements. I got her primroses in pink and she seemed to like them well enough.

...the other me running around is a pony. As in, a talking unicorn from another world who kind of looks like me and has my name, but she's evil. And, well, a pony.

My canon is weird.

So there's no versions of you that are like you at all?

[May as well try to go off her other self's relationship success. The girl seemed like a winner anyway.]

The pony-me that can shapeshift into a human, but she's also actually a demon. So no, not so far. But my canon was only released last month, so it just take time.

Ah okay. I figured since you seem pretty doting on the other me I may as well see if me and another version of you work out.
