Several thousand years' worth of history is daunting, Daughter of Man, and especially so when the manuscripts are not in your possession. These reservations did not cause such hesitation with prior muses. What brings them to the surface now? If I speak to you, then let me speak. If I do not, then let me go. It is a simple - though perhaps not easy - choice that awaits you. I will wait, though I, too, have reservations.

[She mostly just wants to hear him talk, okay? It's soothing.]

Many things. [She, of all people, would know that that is usually the case.]

[She does, of course. Still, she gives a soft laugh and shakes her head.]

I remember when I first laid eyes upon you. [It's a story he's told her before. She'll probably be able to recite the words right along with him, but it's a story of happier times and so he will tell it.

That is, if she lets him. It might be an old, tired tale by now.]

[She can but won't. Celebrian is content enough to just let her eyes drift shut and listen to him tell it. It's never too tired for her, especially when it's him telling it.]

I think the children would agree that you tell tales better than any other.

They merely say that because they think I want to hear it.

[ladyofrivendell]

I very much doubt that. They know what works with you and what doesn't by now.

They do still try. [He settles her against him and leans back to look at the sky.] Where was I?
