Several thousand years' worth of history is daunting, Daughter of Man, and especially so when the manuscripts are not in your possession. These reservations did not cause such hesitation with prior muses. What brings them to the surface now? If I speak to you, then let me speak. If I do not, then let me go. It is a simple - though perhaps not easy - choice that awaits you. I will wait, though I, too, have reservations.

[Elrond returns the feeling. This conversation seems surreal.] I have long stood as a protector of Middle Earth. To leave that behind would not be an easy thing, but if it is decreed I go elsewhere, I will accept that fate and put whatever skills I have to their best use.

Wise words, Lord. [Not my lord. It's hard to say elf-lords are all peers, but regardless, Thranduil is not beholden to Elrond, nor Elrond to him. And really, after spending seven years in Mordor together, they don't have a crapton of secrets anymore.] As always, there could have been fewer.

[He'd encourage Elrond to come to ataraxion but between him, Galadriel, and Aragorn, there might be a case of "too many cooks."]

[If that's a twinkle in his eye or the tiniest hint of a smile pulling at his lips, he'll deny it forever. Because he is Elrond and mustn't ruin a reputation.] I sometimes do strive to speak intelligently.

And sometimes it shows. [Thranduil, on the other hand, is an expert at being deadpan when he really wants to be. Long years of having to have the stiff upper lip so everyone else could be grieved, frightened, or what have you. But he was a rather stoic person even before he became king, so Elrond is probably used to this.] What time would this woman take you from?

[It's at the question that all hints of mirth fade abruptly.] As the Fellowship leaves Imladris, so would I.

[A glint of sympathy comes into Thranduil's eyes. He wouldn't want to leave his comfortable, safe little valley just as things get rough, either.

...There may be a little lingering irrational resentment towards the posh high-elven lords with Rings of Power protecting their people, but he's getting better about that since learning about Saruman.]

That is past my time. Take heart--the word from your fosterling is that your endeavor succeeds.

Perhaps she worries about representing you accurately.

[ His mun sometimes has the same worries, but in either case Maglor is happy to see Elrond doing reasonably well even if this is a strange place for a meeting. ]

[Ah, Maglor. Another he never thought to see again.]

She worries too much, I believe.

I have been told, Lord Elrond, that we may be somewhat intimidating. [Half joking. She's well aware that that's an understatement, particularly in her case. Elrond is at least known for his hospitality and generosity.] Perhaps that is what stays her hand.

[Intimidating? Never. Elrond is never intimidating.] So I have heard. [You still intimidate him, Galadriel.] She is capable. It should not worry her so.

[Oh, come now. She is the best mom-in-law ever. No reason to be intimidated.]

Let us hope, then, that she takes courage from this. I am quite certain any number of places would benefit from your wisdom.

[You're kidding, right?] Her spirits have been lifted, yes. [He shakes his head, just a little.] My wisdom could never surpass yours. [He's just the kid here, after all.]

[The obvious thing to say in response is something like "as do you" but it might be a lie. Elrond inclines his head in greeting.] It is good to see you. [You were sort of family, after all.]
