Voice Testing a new (old?) part of a story and looking at Rekindle
Young lord, I find little reason for your nervousness.
Know you not that a king stands before you? All will be well. No challenge shall best me with the blessing of the sword in my--
...The premise emphasises touch? You must not be serious.
...You are? Young lord- I think you must gravely misunderstand my role here.
[So this Saber is pre-canon, at the time King Arthur would have been a Feudal Lord. As such she will refer to herself as male and as "Lord Arthur Pendragon"! So she's about 15-16 here.]

[Diarmuid tilts his head at Arthur not sure if he believes the other is actually a king. After all, Arthur is still rather young.]
Oh! I get it! You pretending to be king! I am just starting to learn to be a knight, but before that I pretended to be a knight. Right now you are pretending so you know what to do when you become king!
no subject
I-- no! I am-- or well, I will be. For now I am but a lord, but upon my father's word or death, I will be king.
[She kneels, at least. Maybe she can explain better...]
I have already lead my knights in battle a few times. I am familiar with them in the way I am with my people-- touch like that is simply a bit too familiar. It... is improper. [And potentially compromising in the case of identities.]
But you are right-- a knight must know the people he fights for. Are you a squire, then?

[Diarmuid gives Arthur a confused look.]
My father is a god and he touches people all the time. And he says that my lord will come visit when I am a little older and that he is a good man who touches people too!
[Though claps on the back or the shoulder are a bit different from hugs.]
What is a s-squire? I have never heard that word before.
no subject
[Tilting her head, Arthur seems a bit confused.]
A god? [Really?] Well, I know not of the habits of gods. And a squire, boy, is one who trains to be a knight.
no subject
[Child logic. Don't question.]
My father is the god of love and youth and poetry! He holds me all the time and tells me stories and sings me songs. It is my favorite thing! I like it when he teaches me how to use a sword too, but he just started training me not long ago.
[His foster father, actually, but when your birth father only visits once a year if that and brings nothing but trouble in his wake...]
I am training to be a knight, but no one has called me that. I am just a little knight to them!
[A very little knight...]
no subject
The son of a god who sings, training to be a knight but not a squire. Are you not an interesting little one?
[She's not sure how much of his story is to be believed, but she has no reason to discredit him, either.
Still kneeling, she puts a gentle hand on his shoulder. See? That's enough of a touch, right?]
Then, o lytel cniht, I pray you grow to be a knight fearsome and fair.
no subject
Nice try Arthur, but no. Forgive him...Diarmuid nods excitedly at Arthur's words, but the touch on the shoulder really isn't enough for him. Indeed, with Arthur so close now, Diarmuid really doesn't have to think twice about his actions.
Surely a hug will show his new friend that hugging isn't so bad!
The boy throws himself toward Arthur in an attempt to give the little lord a big hug.]
no subject
She makes an attempt, awkward though it may be (she'll blame it on the armour if asked) to return Diarmuid's hug.]
It would appear I have been bested by this little knight after all.
[Indulgent? She doesn't consider it so. Even she at times needed the support of her brother when she was young-- and Diarmuid is very young.]
no subject
[If he thinks the hug is awkward at all, he doesn't make a mention of it. Instead, Diarmuid hugs Arthur for a moment longer before stepping back with a large smile on his face.
It takes so little to make him happy.]
So you will come now, right? I want a new friend to play with and hug!
[Congratulations, Arthur. He means you.]
no subject
Diarmuid is a charming child, and so innocent that she can do little to imply 'no'.]
...Well, a knight must aid and protect the good. I suppose if my service is required, I cannot deny such a request...
no subject
[The boy jumps up and down clapping his hands excitedly.]
I don't think you will be bored, Lord! There is so much to do and to see! There are giant talking robots and generators we have to find and power up and gods and elves who tell stories and...
[He might go on like this for a while. It will probably be to Arthur's benefit to distract him.]
no subject
....Wait- wait! What is a robot? And what is a generator?
no subject
[Diarmuid pauses, thinking hard. While he had gotten to talk to a robot, he hadn't actually gotten to see the generator himself.]
Generators are the things they use to power the city. I don't know what they look like, but people had to go find them so that we could safely use the new part of the city.
[His eyes suddenly light up.]
There are all kinds of shops there too! So much to buy and you don't even have to trade for it. They give us some money to use because we are helping them! That is what you use instead of trading for things.
