Reserved at Mayfield

So Mun...

This place you're taking me. It sounds like a welcome walk in the park compared to where I was. But I still don't understand why. I was getting closer. Closer to Claudia, to finding out the truth. So why the interruption? What's so important in Mayfield?

... Oh. HE'S gonna be there. Just great. Looks like my life's gonna become a dumb sitcom here for awhile. Yanno, both you and that other mun have a terrible sense of humor. Look at me not laughing.

Can't say I've had to deal with any nutcases, myself. [Not recently, anyway, but this isn't her past she's talking about. Also, for Victoria's sake she's neglecting to mention that creepy guy they ran into on Planck.] Unless you count that talking dolphin, but he's not exactly a bad guy, just really weird.

[As if this is not a big deal at all:] Uh, yeah. Talking dolphin. They don't talk where you're from or something?

Weird.

Well, okay, to be fair this is the only dolphin I've ever met, so maybe they're actually not supposed to talk, I don't know.

[That "everything I've seen" comment stops Mirys dead in her tracks, as to her it carries the implication of pretty much having gone through hell.

She recovers after a moment, though.]

There's not a whole lot out there that really surprises me anymore, either, not after all the crap I've had to deal with.

[There is a brief—but noticeable—hesitation, as if trying to quickly decide if giving her name in return would be a smart thing to do. When you've spent a good deal of your time on the run from people looking for you, you'd be asking yourself a similar question.

However, given the implied similarities, the Newman has a feeling that she won't need to worry about it]

Mirys. [Don't let the spelling fool you; it's pronounced as 'mah-ris'.]
