This place you're taking me. It sounds like a welcome walk in the park compared to where I was. But I still don't understand why. I was getting closer. Closer to Claudia, to finding out the truth. So why the interruption? What's so important in Mayfield?

[He looks visibly relieved.] Good. You'll need it...How was Leonard, anyway? Still a horrible monster? [Metaphorically or literally, it worked.]

Definitely not a person anymore... Though I'm not really sure he ever was, after everything I learned about the guy.

Oh, he was human before. Cruel as ever, I'm guessing. That's not my story to tell, though...Claudia would be the one to talk to about that.

It was weird... Even with the way he talked about her, I got the impression he was only going to kill her because he felt he had to.

And to think if he had, all of this could have been prevented. [His tone is almost mocking.] I saw what he did to her...Things like that have an effect on children. [Something about the way he speaks implies he's not talking about himself in that last sentence.]

[At least she's not saying he's going to hell -- that would have actually gotten a rise out of him. He just shrugs.] I'm hurt. You'll never trust me, will you? Just because I'm looking out for myself...Everybody does it. Even you.

[He clenches his fist in response to that, then points at Heather accusingly. His calm demeanor is gone, replaced by one of rage. The space he usually keeps in conversation is narrowed slightly.]

I've told you not to lump me in with her. We may believe in the same God, but she has lost her mind. I'm still quite sane, even if you don't believe me. I don't have the same goals as her and I never will. I'm not interested in rebirthing God ever.

I want her dead just as much as you do...for different reasons, yes, but the desire is still there. [Not mentioning right now that he's having Heather do it for him just because he doesn't want blood on his hands.]
