[Words are easy things, and so it takes nothing to say "yes, I can do what I have not." Believing the words is harder, and doing so, harder still.]

But those are words, and not deed. I doubt we could stand with the Light, in truth.

Maybe there is a place for us in all of this yet.

You know as well as I, Aeleus, that the eradication of darkness is a futile waste of effort.

Moreover, if our home should become a shining place once again, how will denizens of the light who have never known darkness learn to manage themselves with it, in their midst?

I propose a more balanced strategy, in the reconstruction. The committee won't trust it coming from us, of course. But I have ways around that. I will require your support.
