Let me get this straight: you've had this journal thing for how long? Then you reread the book (and don't get me wrong, as many times as I've reread The Forbidden Chalice, I'm not throwing stones from glass houses here), decide to find a "PB" for me and... what?

What's your long-term plan, here? Pull me out of New Arcadia, out of Charlie's, out of my bakery, to send me somewhere else? Because baking cinnamon rolls and Bitter Chocolate Death is such a sought-after skill. I got tired of my life once already, and we both know how that turned out.

[Sunshine's in full on bitch mode now.]

At least think before sending me someplace without sunlight. Carthaginian hell, I'd be worse than useless. I'd give it a week before I was sick.

And I'm not interested in "meeting vampires from other worlds", okay? The ones in my world are bad enough, and Con is... Con. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, is all I'm saying.

They didn't make the deal with the mundanes. They made them with the Nephilim. [Remembering that he's basically talking to a mundane, he realizes he'll have to explain.] Nephilim protect the world from beings like vampires who hurt others. If they take blood from the unwilling then they will be dealt with.

In my reality, most mundanes don't know that Downworlders exist and we try to make sure that they never do. In yours they know about them?

So what you're saying is, your world has some super-special god-like beings there to protect the squishy little humans from the darkest Others?

[Because that sounds like a nice, cushy world to be from, from where she's sitting.]

And yeah, you'd have to be an idiot not to know about them. Fastest way to get killed by one is to not believe in them.

We're not godlike. More angel-like. Part angel, part human. We protect our world from demons mostly, but if vampires or other Downworlders decide to prey on others, we deal with them.

Most people in my world don't know that Downworlders exist. If they see past the glamours, they think it's their imagination. There's always a 'logical' explanation instead of Dracula's sitting next to you in a diner.

[She waves that off, somewhat annoyed.] Angels are just another kind of Other.

And I've only seen one vampire manage to pass, and I'm not sure how he did it. I think it might've had something to do with me. Otherwise, you can pretty much spot them from a mile away. Well, assuming they slow down long enough for a human to see.

I guess I could be called 'Other'. [It isn't something he liked but in her reality it probably is true.]

Being able to make a vampire immune to sunlight would make you 'Other' in my world. You'd be a Warlock or a member of the Fae. Since you don't seem to have a warlock mark, I'd assume Fae.

Vampires in my reality can't just... show off like that. If they outed themselves every Downworlder race would come after them along with the Nephilm.

[Taking a quiet breath, he tries not to think of what he's lost in that 'cushy' world.] Unless you're the ones fighting the demons.

We made the world the way it was. We asked for help and we were given it. It was centuries ago but it can happen again. It might be possible in your reality.

[Vague snort.] Whatever you're talking about, it's not happening. Where I come from? There's no higher power. There's no one to ask for help but ourselves.
