The answer should be obvious, Mary. All throughout history, the only time I have ever directly intervened was when it was absolutely necessary. And even then, I knew when I would have to do so ahead of time. That is why I had the Dämmerung equipped with the Rhine Maiden, after all. While I sympathize with the Gnosis and their tortured existence, I could not allow them to interfere with my plans.

If only others shared your sentiment. However, it matters very little. The destruction of Zarathustra was disappointing, but not unexpected. There were, and still are, contingency plans in place, though they won't be as gentle.

That never stopped me before. Zarathustra's destruction set off other chains of events. They will be forced to face those repercussions. All that I can do is ensure that their efforts do not make anything worse.
