Honestly. If I can leave Bag End, go on a ridiculous adventure, and fight against orcs, I think that you can manage to get over your insecurities and give yourself another chance. I'm beginning to sound like Gandalf, oh dear.

Besides, I...do miss everybody, and though I'm loathe to admit it to you--you know that it has been...lonely.

A new adventure might be just what the both of us need, hmm?

[What. Oh. Oh. Well now he's realized what he's done. There is the slightest widening of his eyes as it hits him and he'll clear his throat, trying to cover that blunder. Too late now!]

[... there is a pause as he wonders if Bilbo is secretly laughing at him. He totally is.]

I merely meant that the both of you were very close, inseparable, but when I had time to speak with you in separate company, I did enjoy it. [Even if most of it ended up being the hobbit awkwardly wanting to know about dwarven courting customs. Thorin probably never had a relationship in his life, wrong person to ask.]

That's awfully nice of you to say. I never realized that a king would take such pleasure in a mere hobbit's company.
