Yeah, 'til I was thirteen. I didn't even know what I was until then.

But how? Did you never touch water?

No, I was in the water all the time! State champion swim team and everything. It just never did anything until I turned thirteen.

I don't think so? Just left on a boat when I was a baby.

I didn't go any particular place to learn. I learned from my sisters and from life.

So you didn't learn, like, math and stuff?

You know, adding, subtracting ...counting things? Numbers.

Numbers. We know of those.

[For feeding and hunting. For knowing when a sister is missing. For knowing how many sailors to a ship.]

Well, yeah. I mean, I've got my birth mom and her family, but the Griffins raised me. They're my mom and dad too.
